Zara, Plaça Catalunya: our favourite

Located on one side of Plaça Catalunya, this branch has everything you might want. It’s new, spacious, light, elegant and well-organised… even people who claim to be allergic to shopping have been known to enjoy visiting!

The building which houses the store is simply superb: look up and admire the magnificent Art Nouveau cupola. Not bad!

The shop extends over three floors, with womenswear on the ground and first floors, and the children and menswear collections on the first and second floors. Each floor has its own block of spacious and well-lit changing rooms.

  • The best thing about this store is the space! There are wide alleyways between racks, making it easy and pleasant to get around. Shopping doesn’t have to be a battle!

Where? Plaça de Catalunya, 5 (opposite FNAC) – Métro Plaça Catalunya (L1-L3-L6 and L7)
When? Monday – Saturday, 10am – 9.30pm

Zara, Passeig de Gràcia

The Passeig de Gràcia

is one of Barcelona’s biggest and most prestigious thoroughfares. Masterpieces by Gaudí (Casa Batlló and La Pedrera) rub shoulders with luxury boutiques and major international chain stores – a great location for a Zara store!

The vast ground store is home to the bulk of the womenswear collection and to the children’s department. The basement houses the TRF collection (Zara’s “younger” label) and a few changing rooms – worth a shot if the changing rooms on the main floor are all occupied. Menswear is located upstairs, on the first floor.

  • This branch of Zara gets particularly busy, given it’s in a major tourist area. We recommend visiting early(ish) in the morning if you can!

Where?

Passeig de Gràcia, 16 – Metro: Placa Catalunya (L1-L3-L6 and L7) or Passeig de Gràcia (L2 – L3 and L4)
When? Monday – Saturday, 10am – 9.30pm

Zara, Portal de l’Àngel

The Avinguda del Portal de l’Àngel is a pedestrian street which runs off Passeig de Gràcia, after Plaça Catalunya. It’s a major shopping destination, packed with clothing and accessory stores.

The Zara on Portal de l’Àngel is narrow, but spread over several floors: womenswear on 0, 1 and 2, menswear  on 3, childrenswear in the basement.

  • There’s a huge choice of womenswear and there are changing rooms on each floor, which helps to keep the queues down.
  • And that’s not all – there’s another Zara store a few doors down! We haven’t been to visit yet – it was undergoing renovations at the time of writing – so we’ll leave you to discover it on your own.

Where? Avinguda del Portal de l’Àngel, 32-34 – Metro: Plaça Catalunya (L1-L3-L6 and L7)
When? Monday – Saturday, 10am – 9.30pm

Shopping in Barcelona: useful information

  • There’s also a Zara Home on the Passeig de Gràcia, which stocks the brand’s home furnishing and décor lines. You’ll also find branches of the other main Inditex brands, including Uterqüe, Pull & Bear, Oysho, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Stradivarius.
  • For bargain-hunting, try some of Barcelona’s many outlet stores or La Roca Village, which offers sale prices all year round.
  • You won’t find a specific Zara outlet, but Lefties offers pieces from previous Zara collections at bargain prices.

Zara raises prices and plans to return to Russia

Spain news

March 16, 2022

03/16/2022. Zara raises the prices of . The Inditex Group, which owns brands such as Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Oysho, ended 2021 with a net profit of 3,243 million
dollars, which is almost three times more than in 2020, which was the most difficult year in its history due to the pandemic.

Turnover reached 27,716 million, up 36% from last year, according to data released this Wednesday. With these results, led by Pablo Isla as president, the company
approaches pre-pandemic levels and believes that the coronavirus crisis that hit the world and caused the closure of a large part of the corporation’s stores for several months has been overcome.

However, the current ferocious inflation, exacerbated by the onset of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, forced the leadership of the textile giant to reconsider its pricing policy – and not in a pleasant way for
consumer side.

Inditex declined to quantify the potential impact on results of store closures in Russia and Ukraine due to the war, while announcing that it plans to raise prices by around 5% globally.
and by 2% in the case of Spain.

Annual results do not yet reflect the impact of store closures in Russia and Ukraine announced on March 12 due to military conflict. Sales, as Inditex surged this Wednesday, continued
grow strongly even in the Russian market at the beginning of the year. “Fiscal 2022 is off to a good start with the Spring/Summer collections being very well received by our customers.

In-store and online sales in constant currency from February 1 to March 13 are 33% higher than in 2021 and 21% higher than all-time highs in 2019, before the pandemic. During this period, sales in
The Russian Federation and Ukraine accounted for approximately 5 percentage points of sales growth, ”the company explains. At that time, shops in Russia were closed for only a week. In addition, when comparison is made
constant exchange rate, this also does not reflect the collapse of the ruble.

With regard to Russia, company spokesman Garcia Maceiras indicated that the suspension is forced and temporary, and that the main goal is to return to work “as soon as this allows
situation”. When asked if the Russian authorities contacted Inditex after the decision to terminate its activities, the executive branch did not go into details. “We are well aware of
situation and we will assess what to do based on the subsequent development of the conflict,” he said.
