2X12 OS Wave Cabinet | Port City Amps

“Thanks so very much for responding. I spent some time with the amp… beautiful …beautiful sounding amp. I thought I had some great cleans on some other amps… which can now not ever be considered as great cleans to me anymore! Good work!”

– Craig M.

“Hey Daniel, just thought I might let you know that I’ve been loving the amp so far. Your workmanship is truly incredible and you make spectacular equipment. Your amps look as beautiful they sound. Cheers.”

– Dom. F.

“I’m sure you hear this all the time but I can hardly believe how absolutely incredible this thing sounds!!! It is so articulate and responsive. This is what I have always wanted an amp to sound like. Takes all my dirt and fuzz and weird lo-fi effects so well and never loses focus or becomes muddy. I don’t know how you did it, but this amp is damn near perfection and worth every penny. I love the gold light to match the gold on the amp by the way. Thanks again for all the conversations and for making such a great product.

– Reuben H.

“I spent some time with the amp… beautiful …beautiful sounding amp. Great tone in a super clean, straight forward package. Picked up my first 2×12 Wave cab in early 2015. The WGS Vet 30’s sounds great covering everything from jazz to contemporary Christian to hard rock, blues and my usual genre, jazz fusion. My second cab, a baffled Wave 2×12/10housing one Vet 30 and one 10” Jensen Jet Tornado is crystal clear on clean tones and heavy gain alike. Very happy with all of my Port City products, thanks for making great tone so easy.”

– Ben W.

“I have owned my Pearl and OS Wave cabinet for 6 months now. It is like playing in hi-fidelity. It lets you hear how your guitars and pedals actually sound!”

– Blair F.

I have a 1×12 OS cab that I ordered 2 years ago, and it sounds absolutely massive. It sounds better than other cabs I’ve tried that are twice the size, and its super compact.

– Connor S.

The cabinet I purchased has performed flawlessly. It is hands down the absolute best cabinet I’ve ever had the pleasure to play through.

Thanks! – Brian G.

The 212 is wild, it’s super loud! Had it for about two years. It’s great for doing leads and clean tones in my situation, although the rhythm patches are super pronounced when ran thru it. Sounds great when playing with another guitar, really separates your sound from the other that’s going on in the same room.

Love it, definitely never getting rid of it! Thanks Daniel for making the best cabs! – Andy T.

We’ve used every cabinet Daniel has created and continue to use them live and in the studio. It’s a pleasure to not only be great friends with such a brilliant guy but also be able to have top tier gear behind us. The vertical 2x12os cabs are my ideal setup. It is hands down the absolute best cabinet I’ve ever had the pleasure to play through.

Dustie Waring – Between the Buried and Me

I have been the proud owner of a Port City OS 1×12 for about 6 years now, and it’s been my one and only cab for all of that time and has seen many, many function and wedding band gigs.  It’s portable, well thought-out (that’s the RIGHT place for a carry handle), tough and sounds incredible with a wide sound stage and great bottom end. I’ve never felt the need for anything bigger. There’s been 4 amps, 2 speakers, and an unhealthy number of guitars through the rig in that time, but only 1 speaker cab. A superb product. Thanks. – Pete W.

My 2x12OS Wave cab has great attention to detail. It is very portable and manageable for one person. Plus it sounds massive and gives a 4×12 a run for its money. Great customer service too. – Kevin B.

I purchased my Wave cab new in December 2016. Any other cab sounds plain wrong now. Being a player of many different genres, using a digital amp was deemed to be best fit for my needs. Speaker cabinets quickly showed their limitations in diversity; open back cabs did not have the tight bass response that is required for heavier styles, while closed back cabs projected too directionally with the digital gear (not to mention the nasty, boxy, nasally sound that they have). The Wave cabs provided the perfect solution without compromising anything – bass response is tight as can be and it is possible to hear yourself anywhere. Coupled with the unparalleled customer service, Port City make the only cabs I will ever consider buying.

– Joe F

I purchased a 2×12 cab last year and I can honestly say that it is the best sounding cabinet that I have played on. Too often, we overlook the importance of a good cabinet in this day and age and the Port City 2×12 became an integral in my sound might even say ,it has become the “Soul” of my sound ! The attention to detail is quite stunning and the overall sonic qualities is breathtaking…While recording my band first full length, we did some A/B with other Cabinets and the Port City was always the better option so we ended up recording all of the rhythm and lead using this cabinet.

Best wishes, Renaud P.

I picked up the cabinet today at FedEx and just opened the box.  Well, I am extremely impressed with the quality of the work.   The way the Tolex is applied, the beautiful maple frame, and the hardware are all just exquisite.  I’ll get it up and running this weekend.  The Quilter amp seems visually perfect for the cabinet as I would not want a head to compete with it, unless of course it was complemented by one of your heads.  Perhaps that will be another year.

My thanks to all involved in the making of this beautiful piece of musical equipment.  Be assured, the house in which it sits is of the same quality.

Sincerely, Tim

There is no doubt your cabinets are the best. #1 EQ of the cabinet, very balanced, #2 player projection, so few companies consider this very principal and you nailed it, #3 Craftsmanship, perfect, tell the guys in the shop they deserve a raise. #4 Materials, very good, Thanks for the marine grade ply. Being I have played thru almost everything, I think you’re on to something.

Sincerely, Scott Larson

You fine folks of Port City are a class above! It arrived in time for practice before my gig tonight. The cabinet arrived perfectly without any rattle and is PERFECT and sounds unbelievably huge!! I don’t know how to thank you enough for what you guys have done for me, I won’t forget this, the OS 2×12 wave cab is next. Deepest gratitude.

Leo G.

I’ve finally had some play time on the Wave cab you shipped. It is beautiful. It sounds clearer than I imagined a cabinet could sound; how that’s possible to clear up all those notes and make every one of them articulate is a mystery I won’t begin to understand. If I play through my old cab, trying to differentiate notes in a “G”chord for example, isn’t so clean and precise. Switching to your cab and you can hear each individual string and note in the chord – Even with a high gain lead channel. Hope you have a good weekend! Thanks again for everything.

– Darren B.

I wanted to touch base and let you know how totally pleased I am with the 2×12 cab.  The expansive sound it produces is nothing short of amazing.  I set the cab next to my 4×12 loaded with Fane speakers to compare and was blown away by the Port City.

Thanks. – Robert G.

I just wanted to say “thank you”, I got your 2×12 cabinet and I love it, not only does it sound full and great it’s well constructed and beautiful. Very satisfied with the sound. Thanks again!

– Greg D

I wanted to say thank you for the wonderful cabinets as well as helping me figure out what speakers to use. The cabinets and speakers sound incredible, they look beautiful, and they have been serving me well! They work incredibly well with the amp head and the guitars I use. They are truly awesome! I am proud to use them! I feel very lucky to have found Port City amps. I love being able to get customized music equipment and it’s really cool to have a pair of custom made cabinets that were so affordable. Thank you again and I hope you are doing well!

Landon R.

The Port City 2X12 OS Wave Cab you made me at the end of 2012 is still the best sounding cabinet on the market. The fullness and bottom-end is unparalleled.

– Ian S.

I have owned my vertical OS Wave cab for almost 3 years. It is sleek, lightweight, and amazingly loud for its size. Love it!

-Ed C.

I have a 2×12 that I’ve owned for about 3 years now. It is by far the best cabinet I have ever owned. It sounds almost as big as a 4×12. It has so much depth to it. I put Jensen speakers in it and I could not be happier. I plan on adding another one in the near future.

-Chris B.

I just wanted to follow after getting to play a few gigs with this to say thank you! Not only is this cab absolutely stunning but it sounds incredible! Nothing but compliments on my tone with this.

Now I’ve just got to convince my guitarist to take the plunge and order one too! Again, thank you for your hard work and craftsmanship.

-Danielle V.

I have had my 2×12 OS Wave Cabinet for 3 years! I sold my Bogner 4×12 for this! The OS Wave projects unprecedented sonic clarity regardless of which amp head I use with it. Brilliantly designed and way easier to carry around, as a matter of fact, it fits in the trunk of my civic! The search for an impressionable, compact, gigging cab ends with Port City Amplification.

-Roberto P.

My 2x12OS Wave cab has Cloud cracking low end response & crisp cut cleans as fine as a scotch and cigar scene.

– Donovan R.

I’ve had my 2×12 OS Wave cabinet for a few years and it’s the best cabinet on the market. Don’t even bother looking at another brand. Port City is the real deal.

Taxi-Style Movie Weekend: Marseille – Style

Gerard Pires’s Taxi, written by Luc Besson, burst into theaters in 1998, made Sami Naceri a star, introduced Marion Cotillard to cinema, and made audiences fall in love with Marseille. French humor, love and friendship, exciting races in the heart of the ancient port city provided Taxi with crowds of fans, and tourists with a new route in the footsteps of the iconic painting. “Kommersant Style” does not offer to ride around Marseille at a speed of 190 km/h for law-abiding and safety reasons, but it is strongly recommended to walk around the places from the movie on weekends.

Saint-Marie-Major Cathedral

9002 avenue Vaudoyer and rushes past the cathedral of Marseille – Saint-Marie-Major. The majestic building of impressive dimensions has received the cute nickname “pajamas” among the people due to the unusual striped decoration.

The architects conceived Saint-Marie-Major as the largest shrine of France to emphasize the importance of Marseille, and the first stone in the foundation of the cathedral was laid by Emperor Napoleon III himself.

Construction dragged on for 40 years, but the result was worth it: a huge building, 70 meters high and 140 meters long, but light and airy due to its unusual design. The creators did not stint on exquisite materials: Florentine green stone, Tunisian onyx, Carrara white marble – their combination gave rise to the catchy stripes of facades. The grace and sophistication of the lines of the cathedral resembles Italian churches, inside it is generously decorated with Venetian mosaics, and high windows are lit with multi-colored stained-glass windows. There are several viewing platforms in the cathedral, which offer a breathtaking view of the Old Port and snow-white yachts in azure waters.

Old Port

The old port, one way or another, constantly flickers in the windows of the heroes’ cars, all the action of the film takes place in its vicinity. This is the heart of Marseille, it smells of the sea, champagne from yachts, and almost all routes around the city start from here. It is believed that the Old Port was founded in 600 BC. e. the Phoenicians. Until the 19th century, the Old Port was an important trading hub and, in fact, a window to Marseille, but times changed, new ships became crowded in the usual water area. The construction of the New Port began, where the center of commercial gravity moved, and the Old Port remained the symbol of the city, the main point of boat trips and sports.

Today, the Old Port is surrounded by historic buildings, beautiful embankments, its waters are home to severe forts and the same Chateau d’If, where the Count of Monte Cristo languished. Citizens still come to the shore of the port for the freshest shrimp, and tourists arrange whole enogastronomic tours. The lighthouse of Saint-Marie rises in an open area. It has not been used for its intended purpose for a long time, but hospitably meets ships off the coast of Marseille, and for tourists it plays the modest role of an observation tower.

Quai Du Port

Daniel’s first route as a taxi driver runs through the Quai du Port. Here, in the market, the hero meets his first client and kindly gives her a ride along her favorite route. The Quai du Port is the northern border of the Old Port. On a sunny day, there is no better place to walk: the spacious embankment opens its arms, pleases with sparkling water, views of forts and ships. Walking slowly along the Quai du Port, you should pay attention to the Marseille city hall building. Nearby are the Museum of Old Marseille and the Museum of Roman Shipyards. And a little further is the cozy old Pannier quarter with steep climbs and labyrinths of narrow streets. And of course, it is impossible to deny yourself the pleasure of riding a dazzling white Ferris wheel and seeing the port city in all its glory.

The embankment is also famous for its fish restaurants. Here, at almost every step, you can taste traditional seafood dishes, including the legendary bouillabaisse soup, and in the evening admire the sun sinking in the harbor with a glass of wine.

Quai de Rive Neuve

Daniel meets Emilien and drives him to the Boulevard Voltaire. On the route of the heroes there is a tunnel, leaving which they enter the area of the Rive-Neuve embankment – the southern border of the Old Port. The Rive-Neuve, justifying the name (French: “new coast”), was built up and ennobled relatively recently, and differs from its neighbor Quai-du-Port with solid neoclassical buildings and a more dynamic rhythm. To the south of the embankment is the lively Tiare Square and the large pedestrian Cartier des Arcenos with many shops and restaurants. Walking along the Rive-Neuve, it is impossible to pass by La Crie – the national theater of Marseille. Surprisingly, a fish market used to be located here: the “stuffing” was reconstructed in 1981, and the appearance of the building has remained unchanged since the 18th century.

Nightlife begins on Rive-Neuve as the sun sets. There are more people, evening lights create a playful mood, and numerous bars and pubs open their doors for romantic gatherings or noisy parties with a marine accent.

Gare Saint-Charles

Police track down a gang in Mercedes near Boulevard Voltaire, where the police station is located. Finally, a red car whirls down the street, and against its background the stairs of Saint-Charles station on Narvik Square flash by. Station Saint-Charles is one of the oldest in France, built in 1848. And at 19In the year 26, like a royal residence, the station acquired a magnificent wide staircase, which involuntarily evokes associations with the Potemkin Stairs in Odessa. Bronze and marble sculptures are located on the steps, and some spans are equipped with viewing platforms from which a wonderful panorama of the city opens.

Saint-Charles today has a crazy passenger flow – up to 15 million people. In many ways, this became possible thanks to the launch of express trains to Paris, which will reach the French capital in just three hours. The station will delight tourists with its developed infrastructure. Here you can look into cute souvenir shops and have a cup of coffee while waiting for your flight.

Valon des Hoffs

The police check the documents of the Germans in the gray Mercedes. Directly behind Commissioner Gibert is the Counterfeit Money Bridge at the Valon-des-Ophes bay. Unlike the embankments, the bay is located in a quiet secluded place of the port, in the fishing village of the same name. In the colorful settlement of Valon des Hoffs, private houses are closely located, small boats and boats stand in dense rows along the coast. The locals lead an unfussy lifestyle, warmth and comfort emanates from everywhere — time seems to have stopped here.

Walking along the slopes of Valon des Hoffs, it is easy to find miniature deserted beaches with emerald water and admire the sea distance almost alone and away from the noise of the city. According to Marseillais, it is in Valon des Hoffs that you can see the real live Marseille.
