1. Relájate
La Barceloneta es una playa, así que es evidente que uno de los planes más típicos es tumbarse a tomar el sol. Con sus cerca de 500 metros de extensión, seguro que encuentras hueco para la sombrilla. Eso sí, ten en cuenta que la Barceloneta es una de las playas más animadas de Barcelona, así que si tu objetivo es escapar del bullicio de la ciudad, lo mejor es que llegues temprano y con cascos. De esa forma, te harás con el mejor puesto. Además, te alegrará saber que la playa cuenta con un servicio de wifi bastante decente, por si quieres publicar tus aventuras en Instagram o disfrutar de un par de capítulos de tu serie favorita bajo el sol. Pero no todo va a ser descansar, si te entran ganas de un poco más de acción…
2. Vive la noche
Sí, la Barceloneta también tiene su lado fiestero. Grupos de simpáticos juerguistas suelen reunirse al amor de la música y de las bebidas refrescantes hasta altas horas de la madrugada. Seguro que alguno de ellos te acoge con los brazos abiertos. Así que no lo dudes, si te apetece pasarlo en grande, entérate de lo que se cuece por la Barceloneta. Puede que se te haga tarde, tú solo acuérdate de hidratarte bien para amanecer como una rosa al día siguiente.
3. Tómate algo
Y hablando de vida nocturna, encontrarás toda la que quieras en la multitud de bares que se extienden en el horizonte, como si de un espejismo se tratase.
También podrás picar algo para recobrar energías. Pero para vencer el calor, nada mejor que un refrescante cóctel. Además puedes pedírtelo para llevar y disfrutarlo en la toalla, bajo el sol. ¡Esto es vida!
4. Prueba la cocina local
Además de los bares a pie de playa, encontrarás también montones de restaurantes y de chiringuitos para calmar tu apetito. Disfruta de estupendas raciones de marisco y tapas mediterráneas regadas con delicioso vino tinto. O también puedes probar una paella tradicional. No hay mejor modo de recargar energías tras un día de playa o de turismo por la zona de la Barceloneta. La dieta mediterránea es famosa en todo el mundo por ser sanísima además de deliciosa, así que, ¿qué va a ser?
5. Actívate
Ya que tienes el agua tan a mano, ¿por qué no pruebas alguna actividad acuática? En la Barceloneta encontrarás opciones para realizar windsurf, kitesurf y bodyboard. Claro que si tienes tu propia equipación, también puedes traértela y zambullirte a tu aire.
Si prefieres mantener los pies en tierra firme, también encontrarás redes de vóley playa, paletas, ping-pong y hasta una zona de gimnasia. ¡Te va a venir de perlas para bajar las tapas y el vinito!

La Barceloneta no es solo la playa, también es el barrio que la rodea. Durante siglos, la Barceloneta fue un pueblo pesquero que suministraba gran cantidad de marisco a la capital catalana. Incluso se cree que esta localidad inspiró al mismísimo Cervantes: el duelo entre Don Quijote y el caballero de la Blanca Luna tiene lugar en un pueblo pesquero sospechosamente similar a la Barceloneta. Date un paseo por el barrio y admira los coloridos edificios, las calles adoquinadas y la hermosa flora. Si lo recorres al atardecer, podrás codearte con los lugareños mientras comen, beben y disfrutan del ambiente. Recuerda el consejo del mismísimo Sancho Panza: “cuando a Roma fueres, haz lo que vieres”. Así que no te cortes, ¡únete a ellos!

Date un paseo
Tienes al alcance de tu mano unas maravillosas vistas del mar Mediterráneo y no hay nada como un paseo relajado por la playa para disfrutar de ellas. Además, no todo es arena en esta playa. Si te interesa el arte, no te pierdas La Estrella Herida, una impresionante escultura de la artista alemana Rebecca Horn, que podrás admirar sin siquiera abandonar la playa. Seguro que no te deja indiferente, a pesar de que Barcelona te haya deleitado ya con su rico patrimonio cultural y artístico. Si prefieres la arquitectura, acércate hasta el W Barcelona, una maravilla arquitectónica en forma de aleta de delfín diseñada por el arquitecto español Ricardo Bofill. Este hotel con bar en la azotea merece muchísimo la pena si lo que te gusta es tomarte tus cócteles con vistas panorámicas.
8. Zambúllete en la historia
Como ya va quedando claro, la Barceloneta no es solo mar y arena dorada. Tiene también un puerto lleno de impresionantes yates y veleros, el Port Vell.

Until the end of the twentieth century, the beaches in Barcelona were not very appealing. It was only in the 90’s that the various beaches were transformed, cleaning the water and the sand to make them more attractive for locals and tourists to take a dip.
Although Barcelona is not considered to be a beach holiday destination, millions of people go to the city’s numerous beaches to sunbathe and swim in the Mediterranean Sea every year.
A promenade runs along all the city’s coastline and crosses every beach, from LLevant (northern side of the city) to Sant Sebastià (southern part of Barcelona), where the renowned Hotel W is.

Barceloneta or Lesser Barcelona (La Barceloneta) is a popular seaside area that is part of the Old Town of Barcelona.
Almost triangular in shape, Barceloneta is a coastal area along the coastline bordering Port Vell, La Ribera’s historic quarter, also part of Barcelona’s Old Town, and Port Olímpic.
Until the middle of the 18th century, La Barceloneta was practically uninhabited. Local fishermen were the first to frequent this part of Barcelona, although sea conditions were very unreliable. In 1754, the construction of the first houses on the alluvial land began for the inhabitants of the Ribera region, who were resettled as a result of the construction of the Barcelona citadel.
Today, Barceloneta is a lively tourist and residential area, without which it is impossible to imagine the modern face of the city of Barcelona.
Modern Barceloneta is a sought-after coastal part of the city with a developed infrastructure, beaches and hotels, an abundance of cafes and restaurants, as well as a park area, a market, a museum and a few attractions.
Barceloneta Beaches
There are 4 beaches within the Barceloneta area, stretching as a single beach strip and smoothly passing one into another.
All beaches are quite wide and sandy, with excellent infrastructure. The sand is fine and pleasant to the touch. The color of the sand is from light gray to pale golden. The beaches are regularly cleaned, the sand is leveled.
Along the beaches lies a beautiful promenade, well equipped and suitable for relaxing, walking and practicing some sports. Cafes and restaurants along the beaches.
Sant Sebastia beach (Platja de Sant Sebastià / Sant Sebastia beach) is the westernmost beach of Barceloneta and Barcelona in general.
The highlight and hallmark of the beach of Sant Sebastia is a glass sail – the famous 5-star hotel W Barcelona.
Near the hotel there is an observation deck (Mirador Mediterráneo W), which offers views of part of the coast of Barcelona.
There is also a small park (Little Park) and Marina Vela Barcelona.
Sant Miguel beach (Platja de Sant Miquel / Sant Miquel beach) – sandy, well equipped and wide.
The beach promenade is one of the busiest of the promenades in Barcelona.
Barceloneta beach (Platja de la Barceloneta / Barceloneta beach), the length of which is 422 meters, and the average width is 79 meters. This beach is very popular among visitors to the city.
Somorrostro beach (Platja de Somorrostro / Somorrostro beach) – closes the chain of Barceloneta beaches.
Along the beach of Somorrostro, above the sea line, an abundance of cafes and restaurants, there are also nightclubs, entertainment and casinos Barcelona. Port Vell of Barceloneta
The Barceloneta quarter also includes part of the large port of Barcelona with a marina along which runs the Joan de Borbo boulevard (Passeig de Joan de Bordó).
Today it is a place for walking and relaxing.
Museums and sights of Barceloneta
Museum of the History of Catalonia (History Museum of Catalonia), created in 1996 by the Government of Catalonia and located in the building of the former port warehouses – the only building of the Old Port of Barcelona, built in 1881, has been preserved to this day.
The museum contains a permanent exhibition that tells about the history of Catalonia from antiquity to the present, including the era of dictatorship and modern democracy. In addition, the terrace of the museum café offers views of the port and surroundings.
Lighthouse Tower or Clock Tower (Torre del Rellotge Barceloneta), located on the Fishermen’s Pier (Moll de Pescadors).
The lighthouse was built in 1772 on a fishing pier and operated until the middle of the 19th century. When the port was upgraded, the use of the lighthouse became obsolete. In order to preserve the main base, the tower was converted into a clock in the middle of the 19th century.
Tower of San Sebastian (San Sebastian), 78.4 meters high – the tower of the funicular (cable car) connecting Barceloneta with Mount Montjuic (Montjuic fortress).
A good option to visit the sights of Montjuic and see the port and surroundings from above.
Church of St. Michael at the Port in Barceloneta (Sant Miguel del Port / Esglesia de Sant Miquel del Port), located on the Barceloneta Square (Plaça de la Barceloneta) in the center of which there is a lantern with a drinking fountain.
The Catholic Church was conceived as a parish for the new district of Barceloneta and built between 1753 and 1755 by Juan Martin Cermeño, in the Baroque style.
Barceloneta Market (Mercat de la Barceloneta) is a small market located at 1 Plaça Poeta Bosca. fishery in nature, and was an open-air market.
The new reformed market, rebuilt in 2005 – 2007, has become a commercial, architectural and gastronomic landmark of the Barceloneta area. A modern project, retaining the original structure of the building, which was erected in 1884 (architect Antoni Rovira i Trias).
There are two bars-restaurants and a supermarket in the market building.
Barceloneta Park (Parque de la Barceloneta) is an extensive park of the same name in the area, opened in 1996 by Jordi Henrich and Olga Tarraso.
The park is located next to the sea, on the site where the Catalana de Gas plant used to be, which operated until 1989.
At present, from the northeast side of the park you can see the water tower of the factory (Torre de les Aigües), which is a work of modernism 1905 years.
