Where to Stay in Barcelona

Barcelona is a sprawling city divided into a number of different zones, each of which has its own special characteristics and quirks. If this is your first visit to the city, consider staying in the Gothic Quarter.

The historic center of Barcelona’s old city, the Gothic Quarter forms part of the Ciutat Vella district and stretches between La Rambla to Via Laietana and from the Mediterranean Sea to the Ronda de Sant Pere. It’s more than 2,000 years old and is full of incredible places to explore.

Here you’ll find countless examples of stunning Gothic architecture, bustling plazas filled with locals, hectic street markets, famous art museums, and trendy cocktail bars. It’s also where you’ll find some of the best hotels in Barcelona!

If you’ve visited the Catalonian capital before and want to stay somewhere different than the Gothic Quarter, consider El Raval. This multicultural neighborhood is bursting with vibrant energy and an incomparable personality.

Known for its trendy art studios, galleries, museums, and bookshops, El Raval is one of the best places to stay in the city if you want to get a real feel for the local culture. When your artistic side needs a rest, you can take a break by popping in and out of the many independent boutiques selling clothes and accessories you won’t find anywhere else!

Comfortable accommodation ranges from spacious classic rooms, complete with luxury toiletries and full soundproofing, up to opulent junior suites featuring mesmerizing city views that stretch for miles. You’ll love the ultra-comfy beds, designated workstations, and luxe ensuites.

The rooftop terrace offers some of the best views of the Sagrada Familia that we’ve ever seen. You can practically reach out and touch it! The emblematic landmark makes the perfect backdrop, whether you’re taking a dip in the plunge pool or ordering tapas from the restaurant.

Hotel Brummell

Hotem Brummell (Expedia)

It’s one of the most unique places to stay in Barcelona Because It’s an adorable tiny boutique hotel next to Montjuic with a minimalistic and edgy hipster vibe, plenty of greenery, natural light, and homey spaces

Hotel Brummell is in my FAVORITE part of Barcelona. It’s right next to the walk to get up Montjuic hill, which is lush and green and has amazing views. The facade of Hotel Brummell is the same as an 1870’s building, but they have redone the whole interior in the name of ‘modernism’ with brushed concrete, metal, wood, and stone.

I just love the vibe here, and the rooftop pool is pretty epic as well. It has 20 rooms and is a great choice for those who truly love unique + boutique. They also have massages and yoga classes on the daily. Starting at $90 and going up to $200 depending on the dates, you’ll have to check the prices below.

It’s one of the most unique places to stay in Barcelona because it’s an elegant hotel in a refurbished historic building with a cool indoor pool

Once the General Philippines Tobacco Company headquarters, hotel 1898 has retained some of the old feels of the building in a new hotel. I can best describe it as elegant – with solid colors, leather seats, and wooded finishings… as if you should be drinking whiskey and smoking a cigar 😛

Yes, you read that correctly. Les Cols Pavellons is in the beautiful Catalan countryside, tucked behind a Michelin star restaurant inside a stone country house.

The 5 different ‘pavillions’ have glass floors and walls, private rooms and bathrooms, and yes, a private warm onsen spa in each room. If that isn’t the best way to finish off a unique Barcelona stays article, I don’t know what is.

Catalonia Sagrada Familia

3 stars

Hotel in Sant Marti, Barcelona

Catalonia Sagrada Familia is a 15-minute walk from Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia and just 300 meters from Clot Metro and Train Station.
The room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, We had a mini bar, kettle, coffee and tea which were added every day. The room was also cleaned each morning, the towels were changed, bed was made. We traveled by bus (aerobus) from the airport, next to the last bus station is a metro that takes you close to the hotel. The railway station is also about 10 min away from the hotel by metro. You can also have breakfast in the hotel with an additional charge, but there is a bakery right across the street, and a supermarket that works 24/7. The metro is about 2-3 minutes of a walking distance from the hotel, and you can get in about 15 minutes to the center that way.
