W Hotel is a highly anticipated five star hotel on the coastline in Barcelona. Thanks to the shape of a large mirror sail, the hotel building is clearly visible from the beaches of Barcelona. With 472 rooms on 26 floors, this hotel is a serious player in the prestigious Barcelona hotel market. Approaching the hotel, you will feel like a midget at the sight of the overhanging modern exterior. The lobby is not far behind – a large area filled with dim-colored sofas and large coffee tables that stand against the backdrop of huge windows overlooking the ocean.

The hotel has a “trendy” atmosphere – the lobby is filled with well-dressed people from all over the world who have booked rooms in a new five-star hotel in advance. The hotel is very modern but in a slightly isolated location, over 20 minutes walk from the nearest metro station, Barceloneta. But this is an extremely luxurious hotel, if that’s what matters to you.

Hotel amenities

The W Hotel has a large outdoor infinity pool. It’s not heated. The swimming pool opening hours depend on the weather. Near the pool there are sun loungers and the so-called “cabanas” (places closed from the sun with personal service), which can be rented for. There is also a bar near the pool (see below).

The hotel has a spa center – Bliss Spa. This center has another pool, this time heated. Depending on the category of the room you will be staying in (see below), the cost of the spa services may be included in the rate. Among other amenities, the spa center can offer lockers, showers, saunas, cabanas and jacuzzis. If you are interested in, for example, a manicure or massage, then you will have to pay extra for this separately.

The hotel also has a fitness center. It is open to all guests and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The gym has treadmills, elliptical trainers, exercise bikes, free weights and weight machines.

There is a bar on the first floor of the hotel. There is a large room inside plus a summer terrace near the pool. Wi-Fi is available in the bar. There is a DJ playing on weekend evenings. Tapas and snacks are available throughout the day at the bar.

On the 27th floor of the hotel there is another bar – “Eclipse”. They serve modern dishes such as tempura, ceviche and sushi.

There is also a restaurant – Wave, which is open all day long. The restaurant specializes in Mediterranean cuisine – mezze, tapas, Lebanese and Arabic cuisine. Breakfast is also available in this restaurant – pastries, fruits, cereals and cakes. It is possible to order takeaway food.

24-hour room service. This includes the opportunity to eat during the entire 24 hours.

For people with disabilities:

The hotel has 7 rooms adapted for wheelchair users. In these rooms, the width of the doorways has been increased and the design of the bathrooms has been changed. The entire hotel is wheelchair accessible. However, the outdoor pool is not accessible by lift.

The W Hotel has 11 conference rooms in total, covering an area of 2,100 sq.m. All conference rooms are equipped with the latest technology for meetings and presentations. There are 472 rooms in the hotel. The rooms are divided into 10 categories, from “cozy” rooms to “what a luxury!” rooms. Each room has a flat screen TV, iPod docking station, hair dryer, six different toiletries, a coffee machine (must be requested separately but is provided free of charge), minibar, safe, iron and ironing board.

Wi-Fi is available in the rooms, but it is not free.

W Hotel is located in a secluded area, on the southernmost part of Barceloneta beach. The hotel is located directly opposite the beach of Sant Sebastia. This place is a ten minute walk from the marina and restaurants on Passeig de Joan de Borbo. The hotel is also a twenty minute walk from Barceloneta metro station and the old town of El Born.

From Barceloneta Station you can take the metro to other parts of the city such as the Ramblas, Plaça Catalunya, Sagrada Família and Park Güell, all within walking distance of the hotel.

How to get from the airport to the hotel

Taxi: The hotel is 25 minutes by taxi from Terminal 2 and 30 minutes from Terminal 1 of Barcelona Airport. A taxi ride will cost €30.00 – €40.00.

By train: The RENFE train leaves the airport every half an hour. It will take you to Passeig de Gràcia station in about 30 minutes. A one-way trip costs about €4.60. If you take a taxi from Passeig de Gràcia, the journey takes 20 minutes and costs €10.00 – €15.00.

Bus: Take the metro at Plaça Catalunya and take the green line to Passeig de Gràcia where you change to the yellow line to Barceloneta. The hotel is fifteen minutes walk or five minutes by taxi from the metro station. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Plaça de Catalunya, which will take you to your hotel in 15 minutes and cost €14.00.
