  • How do we get to this hotel if we are traveling with a colectivo to Chivay??

    Dear guest
«LA GRANJA DEL COLCA», is located on the left flank of the Colca Canyon, in the district of Cabanaconde-Arequipa department, less than 5 minutes from the viewpoint of LA CRUZ DEL CÓNDOR.
Taking the paved road from the city of Chivay and continuing to the viewpoint of La Cruz del Cóndor, from there, to the site of the PARTITION where you will find an orientation sign. (Km 9.7 of the road that leads to Cabanaconde). From La Cruz del Condor to the partition are less than 2 km and less than 2 minutes in mobility. From the partition the restaurant is very visible. It is identified at the hilltop. To access there is a carriage trail of approximately 1.5 km that will take you to the facilities of LA GRANJA, where there is a private parking area for visitors’ vehicles.
If you go by public transport, you must warn, get off at the LA GRANJA DEL COLCA stop and continue on the pedestrian path or following the road. If you coordinate in advance you can expect establishment mobility.

Where did grunge come from – Radio ULTRA

As you know, grunge is a trend that emerged in the US in the late 1980s and reached worldwide popularity in the 1990s.

Grunge rests on its “whales”, forming the so-called Big Four: Nirvana, Alice In Chains , Soundgarden and Pearl Jam .

The work of these bands actually brought alternative music to the mainstream, declaring itself to the whole world, and became a breath of fresh air in rock.

The most recognizable features of this movement – dirty guitar sound (the word “grunge” literally means “mud”), nervous vocals and dark lyrics about alienation. loneliness and apathy.

This music even caused a corresponding fashion in clothes – people began to dress like members of grunge bands do: plaid flannel shirts, ripped jeans, stretched sweatshirts and, of course, sneakers.

For several years, it was the clips of grunge performers that occupied the air of television channels, and their singles literally occupied the radio and music charts.

Thus, Nirvana’s epoch-making “Nevermind” has perhaps the most symbolic achievement.

The disc pushed the King of Pop himself Michael Jackson off the top of the charts, and the super-successful hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was recognized as one of the main songs of the decade.

One of the most recognizable songs in rock history is Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”

This made grunge the mouthpiece of a generation.

The vast majority of alternative bands of the late 1990s and 2000s made direct use of the grunge legacy, inheriting its dynamics and classic quiet-loud scheme.

Originated in Seattle, Washington, which is why the style is also known as the Seattle Sound.

The epicenter of the nascent music revolution was the small independent label Sub Pop, which supported local underground bands.

It is worth saying that the forefathers of grunge are Black Sabbath, and The Stooges , Sonic Youth, Pixies and Melvins .

He took his roots from heavy metal, noise rock, hardcore and post-punk.

But at the same time, there is still no consensus on that. who exactly is the founder of the direction.

So, among the bands of the first wave – Mother Love Bone , Malfunkshun , Skin Yard , Green River , Mudhoney , Screaming Trees ,

0 their debut album “Facelift” (1990) quickly went double platinum.

guitarist Alice In Chains (currently performing with vocalist William Duvall) , Jerry Cantrell, can be considered one of the real mastodons – he was a witness and a direct participant in the movement.

These days Jerry shared his opinion on who is considered the father of the genre:

“The first band that started it all and opened the world for it is Soundgarden . Absolutely. They were the first to be signed to a major label and the first to release such a record. We were only third. And only then were Nirvana with Pearl Jam .”

According to Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, this is how grunge started in the 1980s

    The musician reminisced:

“When we first started, it was a great time. All these bands made great music. It was especially cool that then it was only ours. Nobody knew about it, nobody tried to be like us. We didn’t try to impress every person in our town. All we wanted to do was play the Central Tavern and the local bar. Seeing each other, hanging out, going to our concerts, that was great. And it was very supportive of each of us. None of the bands of that time – neither Mudhoney and Screaming Trees didn’t look alike because we didn’t aim for it.”

As you know, the mainstream success of Nirvana , Pearl Jam , Soundgarden and Alice In Chains instantly spawned a galaxy of followers, among which and Stone0 Pilots became the most striking a little later 90 Temple0 059 Bush (UK) ) and Silverchair (Australia).

Their albums also became classics of their time, having sold in millions of copies and almost outdid the four themselves in popularity.

Already in the second half of the 1990s, the popularity of the style began to fall, the point of no return is considered by many to be the death of Nirvana leader Kurt Cobain, in addition, Alice In Chains frontman Layne Staley died 8 years later on the same day.
