BARCELONA-El Prat Airport: Taxis, Shuttles (Prices 2023)
Despite El Prat Airport’s easy access to Barcelona’s metro network, many travelers prefer to use a taxi or private shuttle to get to the city center or their final destination.
If your destination is in the outskirts of Barcelona or not near a public transport station, a taxi or private shuttle can be a viable alternative for airport transfers.
Here you will find all the important information and tips on using taxis and private shuttles for airport transfers.
Contents
Taxis are easy to find at El Prat Airport. You just have to follow the signs in the terminal.
Where are the taxis at the airport?
Many taxis are waiting for passengers at Barcelona-El Prat Airport 24/7. You will find the taxi ranks in front of the arrivals areas in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The taxi ranks are very well signposted in the terminal and are therefore easy to find.
Official taxis in Barcelona are black and yellow. The taxis are waiting in a line for passengers. Attention: you cannot just hail a taxi, you must take the first one in line.
What is the journey time from El Prat airport to Barcelona city center by taxi?
The journey time to the city center is approximately 25–40 minutes. The time depends very much on the traffic. This varies greatly depending on the time of day, but traffic jams should always be expected.
Fare: How much does a taxi ride to central/downtown Barcelona cost?
There is no fixed price for a taxi ride from El Prat airport to the center of Barcelona. However, there is a minimum price. This is currently (2023) €21 for a taxi ride from the airport. From 8 pm to 8 am, the night fare applies.
But for 21 euros you won’t get to the city center. This amount is only enough for the districts around the airport.
If you would like to arrange a fixed price for the airport transfer before your trip, then a private airport shuttle is recommended.
On this website you will find many different providers (including prices) you can book online in advance. This will help you avoid the queues at the taxi ranks after your arrival:
Black and yellow taxis are queuing in front of the terminals.
Are private shuttles an alternative to taxis?
In addition to the classic taxis, there are other companies that offer a trip to and from the airport. The benefit to you as a customer is:
You can book the whole thing online in advance. The price is fixed. This saves you time and stress on site. This website shows the offer including prices of the different providers at a glance.Â
With many providers, the driver is waiting directly in the arrival area of the terminal, holding a name sign. It couldn’t be simpler.
If you have special requirements, e.g. a minibus for a group tour or a coach for a larger group. Everything can be conveniently booked online in advance.
Conclusion – for whom is a taxi/private shuttle the right way of transport?
A taxi or private shuttle could be the right choice for you
- if you want to get to your destination comfortably and the fare is not the main consideration.
- If your destination is not in the city center or near a metro station (e.g. in the outskirts of Barcelona).
- If you want to get to the port with a lot of luggage to start a cruise.
There are providers who specialize in this.
- If you don’t feel like dealing with local transport, route maps etc. after a long flight.
If you would like to agree on a fixed price before the trip or have special requirements for the vehicle (van, minibus…), then an online booked shuttle with driver is an interesting alternative to the taxi.
Public transport: metro, bus – an alternative to the taxi?
Of course, it is cheaper to take the subway/metro or the Aerobús shuttle bus from the airport to the city center than by taxi.
Barcelona-El Prat Airport has been connected to the metro network since 2016. Each terminal has its own metro station. The journey times (approx. 30 minutes) with the metro are of course easier to plan than with a taxi, since the metro is independent of traffic jams on the streets.
There is an Aerobús stop in front of each of the two terminal buildings. This airport shuttle bus also offers a good connection to the city center.

2. Route from Barcelona airport to Andorra
The Principality of Andorra and the airport of the Catalan capital El Prat share 205 kilometers , which can only be overcome by motorways. There is no railway, as well as its own airport, in Andorra. If you wanted to travel by train, first you need to get to Barcelona train station and take a train to Puigcerda. From there, you can already get to Andorra by regular bus.
Another way to get to the resort by public transport is Direct Bus and Novatel buses. They go directly from the airport, but the problem is that they make many stops in Barcelona itself and only one in Andorra. Therefore, the bus journey will take 4-5 hours, and you will have to take a taxi from the bus stop to the hotel. The most convenient and fastest way to get to Andorra is by car. To the farthest point of the state from El Prat airport, go about 2.5 – 3 hours . The fastest route to the Principality passes through the route C-16 and includes toll road sections.
3. Transfer from Barcelona airport to Andorra
The most comfortable way to get to the ski resort is to order a transfer from Barcelona to Andorra from ByCAR. You can book a car in advance on the website, via WhatsApp or by making a call.
The transfer is ideal for both individual and group trips. We have a large selection of cars and the opportunity to choose the perfect option for you in terms of capacity (up to 20 people) and class (economy, standard, comfort, business and premium). Your personal driver will meet you at El Prat Airport and help you load your luggage. Unlike a taxi, the cost of a transfer already includes additional features, such as travel on toll roads, luggage and equipment, and unlimited WiFi on the way. For small travelers we provide a booster or a child seat.
You book a transfer from Barcelona to Andorra and the price is fixed at the time of booking. Weather conditions, the location of the hotel, the amount of luggage and traffic on the roads will not affect the final amount. If your flight is delayed, you do not need to pay extra for waiting. At the end of the trip, you pay exactly the amount that the operator announced to you when ordering.
You can also order transfer to Andorra in English.
A small mountainous state, located on the border of Spain and France, in the valley of the Valira River at an altitude of 1050 meters. A small visa-free country is known and popular precisely because it is Europe’s leading center of winter entertainment and sports.
Andorran ski resorts offer excellent infrastructure for vacationers. You can stay here both in a comfortable modern hotel and in a cozy traditional chalet. The ski area in Andorra is divided into two main regions – Vallnord and Grandvalira. Vallnord borders Spain and is a confluence of several resorts: Arcalis, Pal, Arinsal, Ordino and La Massana. Although La Massana is part of the Vallnord ski area, it is located at some distance from the principality and is not connected by lifts to other resorts.
The total length of pistes in Vallnord is 91 kilometers, of which 11 kilometers are green pistes, 23 are blue pistes, 27 are red pistes and 7 kilometers are black pistes. For snowboarding enthusiasts, Vallnord has a halfpipe, carving, slalom and freestyle area. For those who value an active apres-ski life, it is worth heading to La Massana, where there are huge sports centers with various sports grounds and relaxation bars to relax after an active day of skiing.
Andorran piste map
Grandvalira is located very close to the French border. Here you will find 193 kilometers of prepared slopes, amazing night skiing, boardercross tracks and fun parks with jumps for snowboarders. For a fun life, in addition to skiing, vacationers go to the capital of the country – Andorra La Vella.
Why else do people go to Andorra, except for excellent skiing and gorgeous views of the snow-covered slopes covered with forests? Of course shopping! After all, Andorra is a duty-free zone, which means that goods here will cost significantly less than in neighboring countries.
You can pay for the transfer :

We dreamed of seeing Andorra for a long time, finally the dream came true! Great place, definitely worth a visit) We drove through Barcelona, because there were the most convenient tickets in terms of time and price, and we ordered a transfer from the airport. Everything went according to plan, the driver arrived on time, the car they ordered, excellent service, I recommend!
Vladimir
They asked me to build a route in such a way as to see the city, drive through the most significant places. Tell the operator your wishes in advance, they are taken into account! I liked Barcelona very much, we decided to return in the summer, but there are no words about Andorra! The country is like a picture! We drove through some incredible places, the driver Dmitry was telling stories, the road passed like a holiday! I drove to the hotel, suggested where to eat and helped carry the luggage. Fully satisfied!!

10. Taxi from Barcelona airport to Andorra
Taxi Barcelona – Andorra is one of the most convenient options to get to the resort, which will significantly save time. There is no Uber in Barcelona, so you will most likely take the famous black and yellow taxi that has become the symbol of Barcelona. Free cars can always be found in the parking lot next to the terminal. The cost of a taxi ride from Barcelona to Andorra will be 280-330 euros.
Here all taxi drivers work on a meter, the price per kilometer depends on the day of the week and time of day. On holidays and weekends, as well as at night, the rate is higher. As soon as you leave the city, the fare increases again. If your company consists of four people, you pay extra for a seat next to the driver for the fourth. If you have children, you need to pay extra for a booster or seat.
The final cost will be affected by the amount of your luggage, the location of the hotel and which route the driver chooses. You also pay for toll road sections. If you get into a traffic jam, the counter does not turn off. Given so many factors, the final cost is always very difficult to predict.
It is easier, more comfortable and cheaper to pre-order a transfer from Barcelona to Andorra and back. You do not have to waste time looking for a car, at the airport at the right time you will be met by a Russian-speaking driver.
The fixed price will not change depending on the time of day, the number of passengers and the presence of a baby in the company. Luggage and equipment will also be delivered to your hotel free of charge. And also, if you wish, when ordering a return transfer, you can ask to identify an already familiar driver for you. The price for a transfer starts from 210 euros, which is already much cheaper than a taxi.
