Prices and markups for taxi services in Barcelona
Question. How are taxi fares calculated in Barcelona? Does the fee depend on the number of passengers or not? What are the additional fees for?
Answer. The fare does not depend on the number of passengers. The exception is minibuses, in which, if the number of passengers exceeds 4, then an additional fee is paid for each subsequent passenger. Most official taxis in Barcelona (including minibuses) are licensed to carry a maximum of 4 passengers. However, some minibus drivers have permission to carry 6 passengers. If you need a taxi that can carry up to 6 people, then it is best to contact the taxi service directly and order just such a car. Alternatively, you can find a taxi employee at the airport and ask him to find you a car for six people. Keep in mind that you may have to wait because only 10% of taxi drivers in Barcelona are licensed to carry 6 passengers.
