Spostarsi in taxi a Madrid

Mano blanca | 2007

Manoblanca

This tango is not as widely known for dancing as the others, but the story it tells is very porteña
(related to Buenos Aires ). It is about a young driver of a carriage ( “carrerito” ) hurrying to
end of the day through the city to his home at Once , a commercial area near
city center. The horse is trotting
forward while he thinks about his girlfriend from Nuevo Pompeya Riachuelo
on South. Homero Manzi describes the decorations ( “pinta” ) with which the boy’s clothes are decorated, his
a polished carriage as he whips his horses, Manoblanca and Porteñito , riding up the hill
on the way home. A real picture is presented of something that is not quite tango – a happy story about a young,
energetic and optimistic boy.

MANOBLANCA, D’Agostino con Vargas

Donde vas, carrerito del este,
castigando tu yunta de ruanos
y mostrando en la chata celeste
las dos iniciales pintadas a mano?

Reluciendo la estrella de bronce
claveteada en la suela de cuero,
donde vas carrerito del Once,
cruzando ligero, las calles del Sur?

Porteñito!… Manoblanca!…
Vamos, fuerza que viene barranca!
Manoblanca!… Porteñito!…
Fuerza, vamos que falta un poquito

Bueno! Bueno! Ya salimos!
Ahora sigan parejo otra vez,

The boy named his horses (“White Hand” and “Little Porteño ”) and talks to them as if
pets. If you saw horsemen at Buenos Aires then noticed that most of them
quite uncouth, and their animals look repulsive. They usually haul trash today, but boy, hero
songs, well dressed and proud of what he loves and what he loves at the same time. This tango is so popular that he even
erected a monument at the corner of Centenera Avenue and Tabare at Pompeya , but for me it falls into a big
a group of tango melodies in which compás dissolves into words. Listen around 00:40 and 2:00 as
melody
dissipates, the orchestra freezes in indecision, and Vargas works on the words. Here it is a small failure in
compás and melodies, but this feature is typical for many tangos, when the orchestra creates a background melody
For
soloist, who practically only reads poetry.

It took me a while to get used to Manoblanca but now I love it, especially the part where
the boy talks to the horses. .. and how he performs
Vargas Bueno! Bueno! Ya salimos!” . Vargas, is really incomparable in this moment, but
it took
time to get used to dancing to it. This is a difficult tango for a high level, requiring both partners to
careful movements. Sometimes you have to wait patiently, sometimes both partners have to move slowly together,
associating his movement with the voice of Vargas . You must also rush
forward with the orchestra at the right moment, like horses Porteñito and Manoblanca when they
climb up the slope! This is a tango that can be a lot of fun to dance if you’ve been
take some time to think.

Lyrics Manoblanca
most of the early tangos played around the turn of the century were happy and upbeat. They present
boastful machos ( compadritos ), street rough boys, originally from gauchos and settled in
outskirts
Buenos Aires at the turn of the century. famous milonga
“El Porteñito” is a good example of that early style: “They call me El Porteñito . ..I
popular… no one compares to me in dance… women adore me, etc.” The great revolution in tango in the 1920s
added maturity to the lyrics, along with the serious musical arrangements that came with De Caro . Tango
began to reveal more complex emotional themes, stories of nostalgia and loss became key
characteristics of tango. So the deadpan optimism of Manoblanca gives a little respite from the constant
saturation with heavy emotions that are present in most other tangos
“Golden Age”.

Look out for porteños (residents of Buenos Aires ) and their animals. The first thing I
noticed at Buenos Aires is that cats are very friendly. Every other place I’ve been
stray cats have always tried to hide, but here they will walk beside you as if you were their best friend, even
if you only give them half a chance. I’ve always stopped playing with them, but Alej doesn’t like it.
She says it’s dangerous and you can get infected (although I haven’t had any problems yet). Apparently, tolerance
kindness porteños make cats feel safe. And although it seems that the inhabitants are very
like and respect cats, in fact they love dogs. Dogs are everywhere and they seem to be fine
know the rules. They do not get under your feet, they are very polite and restrained until you take the first step to
make friends.
A lot of people here talk to their animals, and one of the best things to know about castellano is
this is an opportunity to eavesdrop on small conversations on the sidewalk about how owners have a discussion with their dogs.
I
I’m not sure if dogs understand that well, but it looks funny enough.

These two perritos salchichas (sausage dog) patrol the area. They are free
move, but are connected with each other by one chain, they move in a very coordinated manner. They do everything as
build.

One day we left the milonga in front of Parque Centenario and saw the funniest thing we have ever seen
met at Buenos Aires . On the opposite side of the street stood a guy with a horse-drawn cart, and
every time he got into the carriage, the horse, for some reason, began to back away. The man yelled at her
lashed with a whip, but the horse slowly continued to move back, like a skidding car, only in reverse. After
for some time the man descended, spoke to the horse and physically, taking it by the bit, pulled a few steps
forward, but as soon as he got into the carriage, the horse was taken backwards. This was repeated 3 or 4 times and we
just couldn’t stop laughing. This
the stage was reminiscent of an old silent movie, where Buster Kitan and
Charlie Chaplin. When we hailed a cab, the horse walked back from where we saw it, about half a block,
and the man was already going crazy. I think if he had a hat, he would have thrown it off a long time ago and trampled it with his feet.

A pair of carreritos helping us change our values. Notice them
the crew is sky blue, just like the crew in Manoblanca !
