Having taken the Barcelona City Tour open top bus, I found it a convenient and easy way to see the city.

Bus Barcelona City Tour

The bus is especially useful for those who have little time for sightseeing, as it allows you to quickly explore the city. I tried to collect as much information as possible about the Barcelona City Tour bus route and the sights included in it.

Please see “Barcelona City Tour – Barcelona Open Tour Bus Review” for more information about this service in general.

Barcelona City Tour – Barcelona Open Tour Bus Review

Did you know that you can’t take your luggage on the Hop on Hop off tour bus. Therefore, before you get on the tourist bus, you need to check in your luggage at the luggage room. Follow the link below to find and book your luggage storage in the city center near a tourist attraction.

Barcelona City Tour bus route

Tourist bus makes twenty stops along the route. At any of the stops you can get off or take the bus. The following is a list of stops and places of interest in Barcelona that are located near the stops.

The Barcelona City Tour bus route is quite complete, covering almost all of Barcelona’s main sights. Other companies offer a choice between routes, but in a city of this size, this is overkill. You can see all the main sights by making one circle along the route passing through the whole city. Having traveled along the route, I can hardly think of places that we did not stop at.

Barcelona City Tour does not provide clear information about the duration of the tour. In my experience, apart from the time I spent off the bus, the tour took 2 hours and 45 minutes from the first to the twentieth stop (see list of stops below).

Do not forget that the streets in areas such as the Gothic Quarter are mostly pedestrian. Thus, if you want to get to know the old city better, you will have to get off the bus and walk around.

List of attractions included in the Barcelona City Tour bus route.

The following is the exact bus route in Barcelona. Some significant sights along the bus route:

Plaça de Catalunya

Probably the most famous square in Barcelona. The square is located at the beginning of the Ramblas and has a large area for pedestrians in its center. Nice place to feed the birds.

Plaza de Catalunya

La Pedrera

This is one of the works of the famous Spanish architect Antonio Gaudí. This is a large, impressive nautical-themed structure. It is especially famous for its undulating roof, which offers views of the city.

La Pedrera

La Sagrada Familia

An iconic church designed by Antonio Gaudí, construction work on which is still ongoing. The bus goes around it on all sides for those who do not want to get off the bus.

La Sagrada Familia

Park Güell by Antoni Gaudí

Another marvel created by the prolific Antoni Gaudí. He created this park, leaving the imprint of his vivid imagination on it. It’s good that there is a bus stop here because the park is further from the city center than other attractions.

Park Güell by Antonio Gaudí

Camp Nou – football stadium of FC Barcelona

Football fans should definitely visit this place, some say it’s the best place in Barcelona. If you don’t have a match ticket, you can at least take a tour of the stadium and museum.

Camp Nou

Montjuïc and Palau Nacional – Palace of Barcelona

Palau Alfons XIII, the royal palace of Barcelona, is located on Montjuïc. There is also a popular show in Barcelona – the Magic Fountain.

Montjuic and Palau Nacional

Olympic Stadium

This place hosted the 1992 Olympic Games. The torch of the Olympic flame is also located here.

Olympic Stadium

Colón – monument to Christopher Columbus

This monument is located at the end of the Ramblas and is the gateway to the city center and the port area.

Colón

Barcelona Cathedral

Barcelona Cathedral is a large Gothic building. It is located in the Gothic Quarter – the most famous area of the old city in Barcelona. The area is popular for its narrow winding streets and old houses.

  2. Barcelona City Tour bus stop in Plaza Catalunya

To the left of the Maremagnum shopping center, in front of the Posit restaurant (Reial Club Maritim), next to a small roundabout.

  18. Port Olimpic is home to the Casino and Seafood Restaurants of Barcelona.

Opposite the Hotel Arts on Carrer del Doctor Aiguader.

  19. Plaza de Palau is a square in the El Born area.

Barcelona City Tour bus departure

The easiest stops to find are Camp Nou (7), Colón Monument (16), International Trade Center (15), Miró Museum (14) and Poble Espanyol (11). On your first trip, it is best to wait for the bus at these stops because they are easy to find.

The Barcelona City Tour bus covers most of Barcelona’s most popular tourist destinations. It is recommended to check the map to find interesting places in the vicinity of the stop. You can use this bus to explore the city comfortably from the second floor. Or you can use the bus as a quick and easy way to travel between places of interest where you can get off and explore in more detail.
