Just a few streets away from Barceloneta Beach, the Cova Fumada serves up inexpensive and classic tapas and a nice cold beer. Tucked away in the Barceloneta neighborhood this is a well-known spot for locals who want good food at reasonable prices.

Ordering food may be a bit of a challenge as not everyone working here can speak English, but it’s a great opportunity to practice your Spanish. Try the freshly cooked octopus (pulpo), a fried Bomba, or a classic Catalan salad of salt cod (esquiexada).

Set in a recently opened section of the port, this new restaurant is gaining popularity with people who don’t mind going just a few steps extra. Els Pescadors

€€€€ | Catalan Cuisine | Seafood | Hidden Gem | Near Platja de la Mar Bella

Els Pescadors is not located right next to the beach—it’s hidden away in a beautiful little plaza located in the Poble Nou district of Barcelona. Once you arrive, you’ll see that you have happened upon a cozy spot that never fails to satisfy.

Els Pescadors (“the fishermen”) of course specializes in amazing seafood and I think you would be hard-pressed to find a place that has fresher seafood than what they bring to the table. It is not a place to go to if you’re on a budget, but your taste buds will thank you if you do!

Bar Jai-Ca

€-€€ | Spanish Cuisine | Classic Tapas | Locals’ Favorite

Locals in Barcelona flock to Jai Ca for many reasons, so you may have to wait for a table. Due to the popularity of their great food and reasonable prices, they have even opened a second location just a few doors down from the original restaurant.

Don’t miss out on their fried artichoke chips—they’re to die for! Of course, they have amazing Spanish jamon, which you simply must eat with some local bread with tomato. Their list of tapas is long, so if you’re looking for a place to try different things, you’ve found it.

BlackLab Brewhouse & Kitchen

In Barcelona, there will be times when you need a break from tapas. That’s when a good burger and beer combo is needed. When you’re down by the beach and fancy something a bit different, head to the terrace at Black Lab Brewery.

The staff know their stuff and they’ll help you choose the perfect craft beer. The kitchen specializes in tantalizing burgers, but they have much more than that to offer including live music. It’s a cool place to hang out.

BEST BARCELONA BEACH RESTAURANTS | ForeverBarcelona

This time of the year, many clients ask me to recommend them good Barcelona beach restaurants. After all, they are a perfect choice for a summer meal. However, there are so many, and so many of them are no more than tourist traps, that visitors need some orientation to choose where to go.

This is why, when today Sally M. wrote me to reconfirm her Gaudi tour and asked me about Barcelona beach restaurants to go with her husband, I thought that it was a great post idea. And no sooner said than done! Good appetite!

COME EATING TAPAS WITH US

These are our favorite beach restaurants in Barcelona:

Located in the Olympic Village,  I love dining at their  outdoor terrace, with the quiet sound of the ways in my ears, to view of the palm trees and the moon,  and a candle on my table  to make the evening even more romantic. And after  dinner, if I feel like dancing, some of my favorite nightclubs  are just next door. This is I chose Agua from all the offer in the area: it’s just next door to the best ones.

Pez Vela

Looking for an informal but cool place to eat? Our Barcelona beach restaurants list has another great choice for you! Pez Vela is located at the foot of the W hotel (a top Barcelona beach hotel, by the way), and I always choose a table  outdoors  when it’s sunny.

SAGRADA FAMILIA AND TAPAS

Nothing beats the astounding views over the water, while I savor a gourmet rice with my friends. And I can’t resist their lemon pie for dessert either!

La Deliciosa

Hungry at the beach? A “chiringuito” is an informal beach bar serving comfort food and drinks, and there are a few located along the Barcelona beaches.  And most of them, though, the food isn’t great… But this is not the case of this one, where their goal is to serve gourmet beach food.

Either you need breakfast after a night partying, or you want a light meal like a sandwich and a salad, or if you want to seat down and have some tapas… They get you covered! And of course they have an enticing drinks menu with cocktails, gin and tonics, vermouth and more!

Xiringuito Escribà

Larger and with more facilities than the average “xiringuito”, in this one you will be able to enjoy a more elaborated meal. paella is their specialty: they have up to 6 different  dry dishes! And their tapas are also great (try their ham “airbags”).

MARKET & TAPAS PRIVATE TOURS

But leave some room for dessert: this venue is run by Christian Escribà, one of the best cake makers in town.

Cal Pinxo Platja

This restaurant is run by the 5th generation of the same family devoted for decades to seafood cooking in the Barceloneta (BTW, more Barceloneta restaurants here). Well known by the locals, it features an outdoor terrace overlooking the beach. Head here for great lobster, prawns, shrimp or any kind of shellfish.

AND BONUS! Here is where else locals go:

Ca la Nuri Platja

Ms. Nuri and her husband started out with a small neighborhood bar in 1962, and little by little, encouraged also by their kids who now run the family business, started growing. It was one of their sons that found the venue during one of his bike strolls along the sea.

PRIVATE TAPAS & FLAMENCO TOUR

And this is how Ca la Nuri Platja has become a local favorite for tapas, fish and rices by the sea. There’s always at least one vegetarian rice available in their menu.
