So you can enjoy the best attractions of the park in the most comfortable way, PortAventura offers you the possibility to leave your belongings before you get to the ride. Leave your backpack in these special lockers for only €2 and forget the extra weight. You can find them in four different points: Between Shambhala and Dragon Khan, at the entrance of Furius Baco, next to Tutuki Splash and at the access to Silver River Flume. Subject to availability.

History and brief description of the park

One of the first questions asked by guests of Catalonia who are interested in the history of the creation of the park is when did the park complex open?

Aventura Park, also known as the “Spanish Disneyland”, opened its doors in 1995.

According to Wikipedia, it is only three years younger than the world famous Disneyland in Paris.

Another common question – what does each word in the name of the attraction mean?

Translation into Russian is easy: in our native language it sounds like “Port of Adventure”.

And here they really are enough.

The complex is divided into six thematic zones dedicated to different regions and civilizations. Thanks to this device, a walk turns into a small round-the-world trip.

In the theaters and on the streets of the park, bright shows are constantly held – you will see about 90 performances a day.

This place with record attendance even has its own anthem.

Tourists often wonder what is better: PortAventura or Disneyland Paris.

As the reviews say, the amusement park, which is located in Spain, is much more impressive.

Paris attraction is great for the little ones. It is nice to take a walk, relax, take pictures with the characters of Disney cartoons against the backdrop of magnificent scenery.

But the most exciting attractions, including extreme ones, can be found on the coast of Catalonia. On the vast territory of Port Aventura, no one is bored, and even an adult man will feel like a child.

Where is Port Aventura located: nearest resorts, airport

Now let’s figure out in which city the theme park Port Aventura is located and which resort is closer to it.

Entertainment Center is a separate area and built near the popular resort of Salou.

You can even get here from Salou on foot: the walk takes only 20 minutes. Everyone will show the way to the complex, and even the most inattentive travelers will not get lost.

By Renfe trains from Barcelona and its resort suburbs. Travel time is 1 hour 20 minutes. You can walk from the railway platform in 5-10 minutes.
From Salou: by bus or tourist train for 5 minutes and a couple of euros.
From Cambrils, Reus, La Pineda and Tarragona – by buses of the Bus Plana route network.

Port Aventura Theme Park

The territory of Port Aventura consists of 6 zones with ethnic names:

This is a whole area of water activities, made in the spirit of the Caribbean. Guests are waiting for palm trees, beaches, water attractions, of which there are two dozen, and colorful reggae music.

Ferrari Land

Ferrari Land is a park that was built only in 2017. The creators dedicated it to the famous Italian car brand and Formula 1 racing.

In the unique attraction Red Force you will feel like a real racer.

On the territory of the park you will see the most famous sights of Italy, only miniature: the Colosseum, the La Scala theater, the campanile of the Venetian Cathedral of San Marco.

There is also a museum of the founder of the brand, there is a Ferrari brand store, an excellent Italian restaurant and several fast food outlets.

Cirque du Soleil

The world famous circus du Soleil in Port Aventura is also open in 2019. The agreement of the park with the world famous circus is concluded until 2020.

Zones and attractions of the park

Each thematic zone of the entertainment complex is an interesting and original place:

So, zone “Mediterranean” is made in the style of a Spanish town. Her pride – Furius Bako – the fastest rollercoaster.
In zone “China” you will find two extreme entertainments – Shambhala and Dragon Khan.
The first attraction is the highest roller coaster in Europe (76 meters) with a free fall height of 78 meters. This is the newest attraction in PortAventura Park.
The second attraction evokes no less emotions – slides with ups and downs, unexpected turns and speeds up to 110 km per hour.
In another unusual attraction Angkor you will try to overcome obstacles in the jungle of Cambodia.
Polynesia Zone is primarily famous for its Tutuki Splash entertainment. Trailers with tourists fall from the top of the volcano into a deep lake – a real surge of emotions!
Experience the exciting attraction “Flight of the Condor” (Hurakan Condor) . This is a free fall tower with a height of about 100 meters (please note that there are height restrictions: minimum – 1.4 meters, maximum – 1. 95 meters.).

Wild West zone also causes a lot of enthusiasm. For example, entertainment “Stampida” is a trip on an old train that rides on wooden rails. This attraction is very popular with the Spaniards, so get ready to stand in line.

Fairyland for the youngest tourists is represented by carousels and attractions for children from 4 to 9 years old and for kids who have just begun to explore the world – it will be interesting for everyone.

Slides, controlled fish, a magic farm, where they travel on a tractor, are waiting for guests.

Each visitor is greeted by heroes of favorite fairy tales, with whom you can take a picture.

Sesame Zone is a real paradise for little tourists. In addition, the queues here are not so huge even in high season.

At evening shows, you will hear incendiary music, see traditional dances, including ritual ones, and admire fireworks against the background of the night sky.

Hours and opening hours
The opening hours of the park depend on when you decide to visit Catalonia.

So, in 2021, the following schedule is relevant:

from September to January and from the end of March to June – from 10-30 to 20-00;

in July and August (the most popular time) – from 10-30 to 20-00;

working hours of the Caribe water park – from the beginning of May to the end of September; the water entertainment zone opens at 10-00, closes at 19-00;

there are special days when the complex receives guests until two in the morning.

Prices and where to buy a ticket
You can spend one or more days in an atmosphere of relaxation and entertainment. At the ticket office of the park, they offer to purchase a subscription for 2, 3, 4 or 7 days. They must be in a row. That is, for example, visiting the complex with a two-day ticket on Monday and Wednesday will not work.

A one-day ticket for an adult costs 70 euros for two parks and 86 euros for three parks. The last option includes a visit to Port Aventura, Costa Caribe and Ferrari Land.

Discounted rates are available for certain categories of visitors. They are entitled to count on children, the elderly, the disabled, groups of schoolchildren and groups of vacationers in the amount of 20 people, as well as large families. To receive a benefit for large families, present the appropriate certificate.

You can buy tickets at the box office, on the park’s official portal or partner websites.

But since Port Aventura is a super popular attraction, there are huge queues at the entrance. They have to be taken in advance.

To avoid the heat, buy your tickets online. It is fast, convenient and even more profitable than paying for a complex ticket at the box office. For a discount, guests are usually provided with a special promotional code.

There is one more practical advice on how to save money on tickets. While on holiday in Salou, check out the local McDonald’s. Discount coupons for the park are often given out here: for guests with such a flyer, the price is reduced by 20 euros.

Food and shopping
A visit to Port Aventura is a great opportunity to taste cuisine from around the world.

The choice of restaurants and other places to eat here is huge:

Tavern “Raco de Mar” enjoy Mediterranean dishes;

in “Hacienda el Charro” – taste Mexican delicacies;

The Iron Horse restaurant will surprise you with simple but delicious American food prepared by Madame Lily.

If you have nothing against fast food, a food court with food outlets is at your service. The range of them is huge, from hamburgers and hot dogs to delicious ice cream.

Shoppers will not be disappointed either. There are shops and souvenir shops in almost every part of the park:

Mers du Sud, located in the Polynesian zone, offers carved masks and other handicrafts;

in the Mexican part of the complex, buy fine jewelry with gems and silver goods;

retail outlets, which are in the Chinese part, will please with original teapots;

fans of the Wild West should check out the Western Clothing store with a large selection of jackets, denim and stylish cowboy hats.

Tips, tricks, life hacks
Before visiting the territory of children’s and adults’ entertainment, read the rules for visiting the park.

Here are some tips and just some useful information for beginners:

If you want to avoid long queues, come to the opening. Not many people come in the evening.

Use discount flyers to save money. They are distributed not only in Salou, but throughout the Costa Dorada.

To experience the attractions of PortAventura faster, buy a special Express Pass.

Leave your luggage in the luggage room, which costs 5 euros.

Many attractions have height restrictions. As for weight restrictions, there are practically none.

If you don’t want to spend money on cafes and restaurants, there is a Mercadona supermarket next to the park with a good selection of products.

To avoid sunburn and to endure the heat, take a hat and sunscreen with you.

To get the best seats on the show, come at least half an hour in advance. This is especially true for tourists who come in the summer or, for example, on the May holidays.

Weather and recommendations for visiting
Another important question is when is the best time to go so that the weather is good:

Of course, Catalonia is especially beautiful in April-May, as well as in September and October. At this time it is not hot here, and there are not so many people.

If you want to combine a visit to the park with a holiday on the sea, choose July-August: in June the water is cool.

Traveling in winter is not a good idea. It often rains on the coast, and walking in the park is not very comfortable.

A trip to one of the largest amusement parks in Spain and Europe, Port Aventura, is an adventure not to be missed.

Not far from the holiday paradise of Salou, the best rides, the coolest rollercoasters and the most terrible stories of Maya sacrifices await.

Furius Backo

The Mediterranean will meet you first, you will enter this zone as soon as you cross the threshold of the main entrance. The main shops and souvenir shops are concentrated in this part of the park. You can stop here after a walk, because you will not find such souvenirs anywhere else in Spain.

The most exciting attraction here is Furius Baco, one of the fastest and most attractive. This “roller coaster” accelerates to a speed of 135 km per hour in 3 seconds, but there are restrictions to get on it if you are less than 140 cm or more than 195!

In the same area of the park there is a port (Port de la Drassana), from which you can visit other areas of the park by boat. In the morning, there are usually queues at the pier, but we advise you not to rush, choosing this method of transportation, walking will be no less exciting.

2Wild West

Wild West zone – will remind you of the history of the exploration of America. The cowboy spirit is felt here in everything: in architecture, attractions, cafes.

Cowboy entertainment is, of course, shooting and chasing, you can enjoy the first at the shooting range in this zone.

At the Stampida ride, you can try to guess the route of a wagon moving along wooden rails and experience incredible horror when you see it rushing towards another wagon, but everything will end well, no one will get hurt.

Height limit: 1.20, but for smaller children there is a similar attraction “Tomahawk”, which is adapted for small children accompanied by adults.

Carousel (another attraction of this zone) is beautiful in the evening illumination, there are also restrictions – 1.20 m.

Each zone has a water attraction, in this part of Port Aventura it is the “Silver River”, on stylized logs you will go down the river with elevation changes, a cheerful and fresh mood is guaranteed if you are not lower than 1 meter, and minors are accompanied by an adult .

Once again you can plunge into the world of water activities on the “Rafting on the Grand Canyon”. The restrictions are almost the same, only the growth is 1.30.

“Volpaiute Carousel” – Another carousel, which is a rotating apartment. Restrictions: height not less than 1.40 m.

Well, how could it be without a rodeo for cowboys, such entertainment is offered by the attraction of the same name with a height limit of 1.40. There are children’s and adult options.

Port Aventura Amusement Park offers a ride on a train moving around the territory, which stops at the Station of Remorse. You can have a bite to eat before setting off on a further journey at the Madame Lilie’s Grill restaurant.

3Mexico

Making your way through cacti and exotic plants, you will find yourself in Mexico. The spirit of the Mayan tribe, amazing Mexican cuisine and original attractions await you in this part of the amusement park.

The most thrilling experience can be obtained by riding the “Flight of the Condor” 100 m high. (Limits – 1.40-1.95) height differences. In this park attraction, you explore an abandoned mine.
And on the “Yucatan” (Yucatan) take a ride on the carousel, consisting of rotating blades. There are height and age restrictions.

In the “Temple of Fire” (Templo del Fuego) you will find an amazing spectacle, the impressive power of fire and indelible impressions. Height restrictions – 1 meter.

Shambhala

The style of Chinatown is inherent in the area of China. This part of the Catalan amusement park is the brightest. “Shambhala”, reminiscent of the real Shambhala, located in China, according to legend, is one of the most expensive rides. This “roller coaster” with a train speed of 134 km, and a fall height of 78 meters, causes a real stir among tourists. In the first two days it was visited by about 15 thousand people.

Dragon Khan is the largest attraction in Europe, speeding up to 110 km per hour, the feeling of weightlessness changes so often on it that it is better to turn in things that can be blown away by a gust of wind and tie shoes without a back. You can get into this extreme way of entertainment only with a height of 1.40.

Once in the Sesame zone, the newest part of the park, opened in 2011, you will plunge into the world of good cartoons and fairy tale characters. The 11 rides in this part of Port Aventura will keep even the most bored little one entertained.
