You get an hour or two to try to find the secret to getting out. This is a great way to find family-building skills by working together.
There are several different locations to choose from in Los Angeles.
TIP: Admission to an escape room is included with at least one Los Angeles tourist pass.
See an Outdoor Movie
With the nice weather, there are several outdoor movie series to enjoy around the city.
Some are free and held at public parks. Many series take place in the warmer months of summer.
In years past, the selection of films has included titles such as The Neverending Story, Black Panther, E.T., Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Monsters Inc., and more.
There are other series that you must buy a ticket for, but most of the kid-friendly series are free.
Check this list of outdoor movie series in Los Angeles for more details.
Start a Bonfire on the Beach
Some of the public beaches in Los Angeles actually have fire pits where visitors can start their own bonfires.
It’s free to use a pit, but you will have to purchase the supplies for the fire and make sure that it doesn’t get out of control.
Keep in mind that these fire pits are pretty popular during the weekends, making it even more important to find a fire pit earlier in the day.
RESTAURANTS AND FOOD
There are so many great food destinations in LA; you could spend an entire vacation eating and not even scratch the surface of what LA has to offer in dining.
Grand Central Market
One must-visit is the Grand Central Market, for both its history and food selection. The market opened in 1917 and has been in continuous operation ever since.
The market has continued to evolve with the city and is a premier dining destination.
Sticky Rice is our favorite for Thai food, Lucky Bird has some of the best fried chicken in town, and swing by McConnell’s Fine Ice Creams for dessert.
The Apple Pan
For amazing burgers, swing by The Apple Pan. It’s been in business since the 1920s and is known for its classic steakburger.
Beverly Hills Hotel
For celebrity spotting, try having lunch at the iconic garden terrace of the Chateau Marmont or the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
You’ll spend a little more money but it might be worth it if you see your favorite silver screen star up close.
The Prince
If you want authentic Korean food, visit The Prince.
Located in Koreatown, you’ll likely recognize the interior, as it’s been featured in TV shows like Mad Men and New Girl and movies like Chinatown.
The service is notoriously slow but the Korean-inspired menu is delicious and the prices are reasonable.
California Donuts
It is a 24-hour donut shop to satisfy your sweet tooth without breaking the bank.
Fresh Donuts Since 1982!
A family-owned donut shop since 1982 that makes amazingly fluffy donuts!
Pacific Dining Car
Another great all-night spot is the Pacific Dining Car on the west side of downtown.
It’s been in business since 1921 (Mae West used to be a regular).
If you come in between 10 pm – 6 am, you can try the famous “baseball steak” that was featured in the film Training Day.
Food Trucks
LA is famous for its food truck scene. To get the latest in food trends, be sure to track down a food truck and enjoy the cuisine like an LA local.
Roaming Hunger has a great site to help you track down where trucks are at any time of night.
If you head over to La Brea & Venice, you’ll find Leo’s Tacos parked almost nightly, with folks eating and socializing in the parking lot. Grab a couple of al pastor tacos and thank us later!
There are so many things to do at night throughout the year in LA that we’ve separated them by month, as many events occur in conjunction with holidays or seasons.

Attractions near me on the map. How to find, where to go, what to see? For this, there are not only paper maps, but also a large number of applications for the phone that work online and will help you find the right point at any time.
How to search for places in a specific area of the map
You can find the right place in a certain area of the map, if we are talking about online maps, by following the steps of the following algorithm.
Required:
- Open a map on the Internet (you can use Google, Yandex or 2GIS maps) using a computer or mobile device.
- Find your preferred area on the map.
- Press the Enter key or use the magnifying glass icon to search for places.
- Press the button “Search nearby” or “Places nearby”.
- Type in the search bar the name of the category of the place you are looking for, such as a cafe or a museum.
- Press the Enter key or use the icon to search for places.
After completing all the steps, the map will display icons that indicate the location of the desired establishments. For more information, please click on one of the icons.
You can also use another search method. To do this, you need to drive in the text in the search line of the map, for example, “a museum near Lenin Square” and press the “Search” button. Then points will appear on the map indicating the location of attractions near the specified place.
How to search for places nearby, places of interest near me
Places located nearby can be conveniently discovered using a global search through Google Maps. This service receives data from various Internet resources, so it has the most up-to-date information.
It can be used to find:
- city events;
- cafes/restaurants/bars;
- monuments;
- museums/galleries/exhibition halls;
- stores;
- cinemas/theatres/concert halls.
In addition to the exact address, in the application you can find out about the reputation of the institution, according to the reviews of real visitors, a description of the place, contact details and, possibly, the cost of a visit, especially relevant for catering establishments.
In addition, in the search results, places of interest and establishments are ranked by popularity, reputation and preferences of the account user in the Google search engine.
Attractions near me can be seen on any map. This is especially easy to do from an electronic device that indicates the location.
In addition to Google Maps, there are other services that will help you find interesting places nearby, for example, 2GIS or Yandex.Maps, which have similar functionality. In extreme cases, if there is no Internet, you can ask passers-by. People who live in the city should be aware of where to see the sights.
You can purchase a travel guide or a paper map, on which socially significant establishments are marked with special icons. The meaning of such designations can be viewed from the map legend, which is usually displayed in the lower left corner.
Useful services for travelers
Attractions “near me” helps travelers to find a large number of online services that meet most of the needs of tourists.
Various applications can perform the following functions:
- search for any point in the city online or offline;
- construction of a walking or automobile route;
- search for the location of points of interest;
- search for catering places;
- search for places for entertainment: parks, cinemas or entertainment complexes;
- search for places to rent a car.
All of them are designed to make life easier for the traveler and make the train as comfortable as possible.
Maps of cities
Maps me is an application in which you can install on your mobile device a map of any city that displays not only streets and houses, but also the location of cafes, restaurants, theaters, hotels and other places useful for tourists. The service works on Ios and Android platforms, and its installation and use is absolutely free.
If your phone supports the GPS function, then this application will help you to track in real time where the person using it is now. This will avoid embarrassing moments with passers-by asking how to find a particular place. The Maps me app can work both online and offline.
Offline maps
Maps With Me – a map containing information about all countries of the world, which can also work without Internet access. In order to start working after downloading the application, you need to select the desired location on the map and download it to your mobile device. After downloading the data, it will be available offline, so it can be used on any trip.
In addition, the application has a good download speed.
City maps 2 GO is a mobile application that can work without Internet access. The principle of operation is that you can download a map of the desired city to your phone, and then use it at any time. You can download the application for free and upload up to 5 any cards. Starting from the 6th card, they become paid.
Yandex.Maps is an application that can be used both online and offline. This service is convenient to use on the territory of the CIS countries. In order to use the map without Internet access, you need to download it to your phone. However, in this case, it will not be possible to plot the route automatically.
2 GIS is a mobile phone application that can be used not only as a navigator. It will also help you find useful places for the traveler on the map, such as a hotel, shop or restaurant, with their contact details.
Now this application is especially useful for tourists visiting cities in Russia, but maps of cities from other countries are also added there: Italy, Cyprus, Ukraine and others.
Route planning
Places of interest “near me” can only be found with a properly built route.
The following applications can help tourists with this:
- Redigo is a mobile application that can replace thick and expensive guidebooks.
It contains all the information necessary for tourists: maps that work without Internet access, descriptions and locations of attractions, a currency converter, time in different time zones, a translator, and even information about a visa. The application has information about many countries and cities of the world.
- Map My Ride is an app that is perfect for cyclists. With it, you can not only build a convenient cycling route to all major attractions, but also create and upload your own track.
- City maps 2 GO – the application can build a walking route according to specified criteria, for example, through all popular attractions.
You can also build a route in real time in applications with city maps that work using Internet access.
Travel guide
Now paper guides are being replaced by services for mobile devices and personal computers, which, in addition to descriptions and locations of attractions, contain other useful data for travelers.
The most popular among such guides are the following:
- Polyglot is a service that provides not only information about the sights of the city in different countries, but also provides a section with small phrasebooks.
- Vokrug sveta is a publication that not only publishes guidebooks in paper form, but also provides a service with electronic versions of guidebooks.

- Lonely Planet is a service that contains data collected by professional journalists and travelers.

Using the listed services, you can easily navigate even in an unfamiliar city.

This service has an extensive database of different types of excursions in many cities from different countries. Here you can order an excursion tour online and reserve seats.
In addition to visiting famous places of interest, some tourists may be interested in meeting and talking with locals in their local or native language. To meet this need, there is a Party Witha Local service. He will tell you where the parties take place and indicate the exact address.
You can search for other activities in different categories, such as going to the cinema, going to a concert, or going to a sporting event, on the Tripadvisor app. Here you can also read reviews of other visitors about a particular institution.

In addition to visiting city sights while traveling, there are other activities that can be found using the following applications for mobile devices.

- You can save on accommodation by using hostels for an overnight stay, and during the day you can move around the city with all your things.
- It is better to buy tickets in advance, so you can save a lot of money. You can also use the opposite advice and buy a last-minute tour, it is much cheaper than usual, but then there is a high probability that there will be no such tours on the desired date.
- It is worth planning your route in an unfamiliar city in advance in order to avoid unpleasant situations and not get lost or download a map.
- It is necessary to take all the medicines that are usually used or the standard set of tablets, because in some countries it will not be possible to find the usual medicines or they will be needed unexpectedly.
- Do not take too many clothes.
- It is better to keep money on a bank card, withdrawing cash from ATMs.
Following simple tips will help make your journey more comfortable and safer. And the use of the described applications will allow you to find sights even in an unfamiliar country, both “near me” and throughout the city.

Nevsky Avenue
0+
Nevsky Prospekt is just as turbulent a “river” as the one after which it is named. It serves as the main land artery of the city, where the “shores” are the former palaces of the nobles and the mansions of the bourgeois, and now museums, libraries, theaters and shops, and the “fish” are cars and people, of various colors and different languages, townspeople and tourists. The closer to the night, the busier these streams. The eagle on the tower of the Singer House flaps its wings in greeting to the night revelers, when its neighbor, the Duma Tower, counts the time until morning with the ringing of the clock. Plastic Freddie Mercury lures you to Rock Pub on Mikhailovskaya: he knows a lot about fun! The young men from the Anichkov Bridge can hardly keep the rearing horses that are eager to click their hooves among the passing cars. And how many mythical creatures and ghosts of the past glide along the empty avenue closer to dawn: from the sovereign’s carriage to Gogol’s Nose … A night walk along Nevsky will give you unexpected meetings among historical monuments and bright lights.

Kazan Cathedral
0+
Designed in such a way as to comply with Christian canons and fit into the line of Nevsky, one of the main churches of St. Petersburg opens the arms of its colonnade to the opposite Singer House and the Church of the Savior on Blood, which is located in some distance. During the day, lovers meet here, mothers stroll with strollers and musicians torment the strings, and at night only monuments to generals remain from the public: monuments to Kutuzov and Barclay de Tolly are erected in front of the cathedral. The silent stone scenery impresses with its grandeur, taking no part in the vibrant nightlife of the city.

Savior on Spilled Blood
As soon as you turn off Nevsky Prospekt onto the Griboyedov Canal Embankment, new places for the promenade open up. You can walk past the intricate fence of the Mikhailovsky Garden, closed for the night, to the Field of Mars and the Summer Garden, you can go to the Mikhailovsky Castle or past Konyushennaya Square to Millionnaya Street to go to the arch of the General Staff Building and the Winter Palace. The dominant feature is the world-famous cathedral, the mournful name of which contrasts with the gingerbread and festive appearance. Both during the day and closer to darkness, the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood gathers street musicians, tourists, newlyweds, and souvenir dealers around it. And even at night at the Savior you can sometimes hear the sounds of a flute …

Museum-monument “St.
Isaac’s Cathedral”
0+
Surrounded by the Neva, the Bronze Horseman, the Moika, the monument to Nicholas I and the Angleterre Hotel, the bulk of St. Isaac’s Cathedral rises. A rich museum with a stunning colonnade, it is the main dominant in the urban landscape. And the cathedral is incredibly beautiful in the light of lanterns.
Isaakievskaya Sq., 4
Monument “The Bronze Horseman”
Of those who have read the poem of the same name by Pushkin, perhaps the owners of iron nerves will risk taking a walk in the dark along the Promenade des Anglais under the nose of the Bronze Horseman. Even if the Neva does not think of overflowing its banks. However, the daredevils (as well as those who are skeptical and have not read The Bronze Horseman at all) will be rewarded, if not with thrills, then with a view of the fires of Vasilievsky Island, the proximity of Isaac and the general picturesqueness of the place.
Senate Square
Admiralty
The fleet of Peter’s Russia was born here. Here the symbol of St. Petersburg flaunts on the spire – the “unquenchable night boat” from Joseph Brodsky’s “Christmas Romance”. From here lies the prospect of Gorokhovaya Street up to the Youth Theater on Zagorodny Prospekt. Here, stone nymphs hold the heavenly and earthly spheres, dozens of statues, bas-reliefs and moldings glorify the Russian fleet. After enjoying the view of the Palace Bridge, come for a walk in the park near the Admiralty building.
Ave. Admiralteisky, 1
Palace Square
Once upon a time regiments were solemnly lined up here, and today skaters and rollers are rushing under the windows of the Winter Palace. During the day, this place is washed out by the crowd, but in the predawn silence, the Palace returns to itself a truly imperial state.

Palace Bridge
Bridges are usually valued for bringing everyone from coast to coast without interruption. Petersburg is perhaps the only place on Earth where they make a cult of bridges that cannot be reached anywhere. At least in the summer and at night. Of course, most of the night walks and delights fall on the share of the Palace Bridge, from which it is a stone’s throw to the square of the same name. Still: several more drawbridges and many beauties on the embankments are visible from here.

Spit of Vasilyevsky Island

Between two bridges, walking around St. Petersburg, there is a choice: to go deeper into Vasilevsky Island or stop at the Strelka, having the Exchange behind your back, and a postcard panorama before your eyes. From here you can see the Hare Island and both banks of the Neva, the Winter Palace, the Admiralty and the Peter and Paul Fortress, the distant TV tower of the Petrograd side and passing ships. The arrow is beautiful at any time of the day and by itself. The rostral columns, supported by statues-symbols of the four rivers, emit flames on holidays.

Noble girls – pupils of the Smolny Institute – could only dream of night walks. They had the opportunity to see their native educational institution from the side by the light of the moon only after marriage.
