Magic Water Circuit in Lima- A Night of Fountains, Colour and Lights

Nearing the end of our 3 week trip to South America we spent some time in Lima, a city that didn’t really impress us apart from one (literal) bright spot- the Magic Water Circuit.

With 13 fountains, the Magic Water Circuit in Lima has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest water fountain park in the world. These aren’t just typical fountains either- they incorporate lights, music, and interactive elements, turning them into showpieces for a fun night of entertainment in Lima.

Our Visit to the Magic Water Circuit

We arrived at the Magic Water Circuit just as darkness was settling in and were immediately impressed by what we saw.

The first fountain that greeted us was the Magic Fountain, a classically elegant fountain illuminated in white light. In the centre was a spout that shot up and down, capable of reaching 80 metres high.

After admiring the Magic Fountain, we excitedly headed to the Fantasy Fountain to get a good spot for the show. A large crowd of people was already starting to gather in anticipation of the spectacle that was soon to take place.

A short while later the Fantasy Fountain came to life, colourful blasts of water spraying out of the 120 metre long fountain. As the water danced to music, the spouts changed colour and shape, engaging the audience in a choreographed show.

As part of the performance, lasers and lights projected scenes and symbols of Peruvian culture, taking the audience on a virtual tour of Peru.

The show was so spectacular that we watched it twice during our visit to the park. It surpassed all my expectations of what a fountain show would be like, especially once the lasers came into play!

After the Fantasy Fountain show we continued along the circuit, passing by some ornamental water features on the way to the larger cybernetic fountains.

Fountain of Life

Each fountain we saw was unique, with different shapes, colours, and music. There was one shaped like a pyramid, one resembling a rainbow, and one that created so-called “bubbles of illusion”.

Fountain of Illusion

Some of the fountains, like the Dream Maze and Walk in Dome, were even interactive, inviting people to enter them. It was amusing to watch people try not to get wet by dodging the choreographed sprays of water!

The most popular interactive fountain was the 35 metre long Tunnel of Surprises. People loved walking under the water arches, happily posing for photos at the end of the tunnel.

Having made it around the circuit, but not quite ready to leave, we decided to sit at the Magic Fountain and simply enjoy the cheerful, romantic atmosphere.

Watching the vibrant, dancing water at the fountain park was not only a great date night, but also a wonderful way to end our visit to Lima!

Final Thoughts About Lima’s Magic Water Circuit

I’m really glad we went to the Magic Water Circuit because it was pretty much the only thing about Lima I wasn’t indifferent about (apart from paragliding- that was fun too!)

Fountain of Illusion

I loved the bright colours, the laser show, and variety of fountains. The experience was so engaging that I didn’t take as many photos of the fountains as I thought I would, instead choosing to enjoy them in the moment. Now if you visit, you’ll at least be surprised by some of the fountains!

Show at the Circus on Fontanka “13 months. Magic Fountains”

During the New Year holidays, the Fontanka Circus presents its audience with the premiere of one of the most colorful and impressive performances – the unique show “13 Months. Magic Fountains, based on Samuil Marshak’s favorite fairy tale “Twelve Months” (Category: 0 +) – from December 20 to January 19!

Seventy years ago, this fairy tale play was written as a dramatic work for staging at the Moscow Art Theater. The harmony of folklore and magical game fairy tale, its fantastic nature, immediately resonated in the hearts of young viewers. Over time, many theaters and circuses turned to the fabulous production. For several generations, this story has been invariably associated with the magic of the New Year holidays. And if Samuil Marshak from folklore created a “new fairy tale” for a “new viewer”, then the New Year’s production “13 months. Magic Fountains” follows this idea further, becoming a fairy tale for “a new viewer of the 21st century”.

Scriptwriter and director of the new circus incarnation of the fairy tale – hereditary circus performer, animal trainer, founder and artistic director of the Darya Kostyuk Circus, laureate of the RF Government Prize Darya Kostyuk. Having started her creative activity in 1997 in the genre of “dzhigitovka” in the number “Kuban Cossacks” under the guidance of the People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Yu. P. Merdenov, in 2003 she created the number “Aerial gymnast on canvases”. Now Daria is the author and director of all the performances of her own team.

“13 months. Magic Fountains is an extraordinary New Year’s performance, a fairy tale told in an original way by unique circus acts.

The new production is exactly the case when you want to talk about meaning. A fairy tale must necessarily teach, telling about what is good and what is bad. This story teaches kindness and shows young viewers how important it is not to remain indifferent and indifferent, but to have a pure heart. You can not despair and give up even when it seems that there is not the slightest chance of winning. After all, one who is young at heart and pure in soul will never lose his youth and beauty. In response to evil, one must repay with good, one must help the bad to become good, the evil to become good.

In this New Year’s extravaganza, already known characters will be joined by new ones: the King of Time and his indispensable assistants: the Clockmaker, Arrows and Gears, brothers-months, magic bugs and spiders, Goblin, Queen of Cold, Prince and Princess and many others. The climax will be the moment of the appearance of Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden.

The performance presents classic genres of circus art – acrobatics, aerial gymnastics, clowning, and, of course, animal training! Northern dogs, sea and African lions, macaws and cockatoos will appear on the arena.

But a fairy tale would not be a fairy tale without magic, mysteries and intrigues, because it is during the New Year period that people, regardless of age, want to plunge into magic, which will be in abundance in this performance!

We all know that the year is divided into 12 months – each of them is special, but, as the Big Book of Time says, few people know that there is a Thirteenth month, which was stolen and bewitched in the Castle of Evil. Who is this mysterious character and when does his time come? The viewer will be able to find out the answers together with the heroes of the New Year’s circus performance “13 Months”.

The action of the fairy tale will take place on a unique arena-stage, which will complement the New Year’s premiere with an unforgettable show of ice fountains, a fascinating plot and a bewitching atmosphere. Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden will definitely appear at the New Year’s performance. The original magical story will be accompanied by original music and over 200 exclusive costumes. The well-known circus artist Daria Kostyuk is the artistic director of the project.

Get into our magic sleigh, we are about to set off on a journey through all seasons, and 13 months will whirl the audience in their fabulous New Year’s show! We are waiting for you at the Circus on the Fontanka from December 20 to 19January!
