We are a small family business operating a fleet of nearly 30 vehicles, and as such we cannot guarantee to be able to fulfil your requests if you are booking a vehicle to be collected in less than 24 hours time. We don’t have access to the internet at all times and we do need to sleep, so please don’t book now and expect to collect your cars in 15 minutes! We always do our best to accommodate our customers, however we cannot be in two places at one time! We operate from Islay Airport and are only there at plane times so it is not possible to collect cars from there outwith these times unless prior arrangements have been made. We appreciate the booking system allows you collect the car at any time of the day, therefore please be aware we are only there at plane times.

Islay Car Hire provides Quality Self Drive hire on the Isle of Islay. With a office in Islay Airport and the central location of Bridgend we supply cars to the Airport and both Ferry Terminals. We commenced business in 2008, and since then we have built a fleet of well maintained, professionally prepared vehicles. We have three categories, Small, Medium, and Large all available in manual or automatic transmission. Our online booking system enables our customers to reserve and book cars 24 hours of the day, if you prefer to speak to an advisor, you can call our sales office, and we can make the booking for you. To enable you to make the most of your visit to Islay we recommend hiring a car from Islay Car Hire as this gives you the freedom to explore the island at your pace.

I recommend Doffay car rental. It is very convenient that you can pick up the car not only at the airport but also at the hotel. We sailed to the island on 09/02/21 and booked 2 cars from 09/03, in the morning both cars were in our villa with a full tank of gasoline. Nicholas filled out all the documents, everything was quick and convenient, gave us the keys and wished us a pleasant stay. We rented a car for the first time and I expected that there would be document and credit card checks, but at Doffay they will do everything to ensure that your vacation goes smoothly.
The cars were small, in the booking it was indicated “a car like Kia Rio”, they brought Hyundai i10. It seems that this car is the hallmark of the island. Easy to drive and suitable for the narrow roads of the island. And most importantly, 4 large suitcases fit in the trunk and we were even able to get to the airport without an additional transfer.
Thank you for the excellent service, we will definitely come back to you again!

The car was delivered on time, everything is new, clean and functional. I really liked the interaction with the company and will definitely use their services again. For a week of living and actively exploring the island, we spent half a tank of gasoline, refueling cost us 500 rupees, and renting a car for this period was a little more than 300 euros (which is significantly lower than the rest, given the insurance and two drivers)

Recommended! The car was delivered on time to the hotel, picked up from the airport. Good price. The car is new, clean, low mileage. Good baby seat for only 5€ for the entire rental period. Without any hidden surcharges (including for a second driver) and a deposit. Everything is just great!
