Turismo: Concepto, tipos y características

Te explicamos qué es el turismo y cuáles son sus beneficios desde distintos puntos de vista. Además, los diferentes tipos de turistas.

El turismo produce beneficios tanto sociales, culturales como económicos.

¿Qué es turismo?

El turismo es el desplazamiento de las personas de manera temporal y voluntaria. Dentro de este concepto deben ser incluidos las relaciones humanas que conllevan y la prestación de servicios. Si bien los motivos del turismo son variados, suelen ser relacionados con el ocio.

El turismo resulta muy importante desde el punto de vista social, cultural y económico. Gracias al turismo aumenta notablemente la inversión en construcciones de infraestructura, y edificaciones, genera un mayor nivel de desarrollo en las áreas involucradas, los medios de trasporte suelen ser mejorados en cuanto a la calidad y la frecuencia, así como también aumentan las divisas, las tasas de desempleo disminuyen notablemente, generando un mayor bienestar en las comunidades afectadas.

Desde el punto de vista cultural resulta muy útil ya que no solo permite la apreciación de cultura, tradiciones, geografía, artesanías  y otros aspectos de miembros ajenos a la comunidad, sino que también permite la valorización y la concientización dentro de la misma comunidad. Además en un medio de intercambio cultural, donde personas de diversos orígenes conviven y compartes ideas y costumbres.

Tipos de turismo

Muchos jóvenes turistas optan por utilizar los campings.

Cabe destacar que no todos los turistas tienen las mismas características u objetivos. A grandes rasgos pueden ser definidos cuatro grandes grupos:

• Sectores populares. El primero está compuesto por los sectores populares. Está constituidos por trabajadores asalariados. Se considera que en nuestro país el fomento para el turismo de estos sectores comenzó en la década de los cuarenta. Muchas veces obtiene beneficios por parte del Estado u otras instituciones en las que trabajan. Suelen ser viajes más bien cortos, con fines exclusivamente vacacionales. No suele haber agencias de viajes de por medio, son realizados por cuenta propia. Muchas veces son utilizados alojamientos creados por el estado y no suelen variar el lugar de su estadía.
• Clase media. El segundo grupo está compuesto por personas pertenecientes a la clase media, es decir trabajadores estatales, profesionales y empleados de altas categorías. Generalmente suelen movilizarse por medios propios, en tiempos de vacaciones. Utilizan gran parte de sus ahorros en servicios de buena calidad. Los lugares visitados suelen ser turísticos y las estancias se caracterizan por ser breves.
• Clase alta. El tercer grupo está compuesto por los miembros de las clases más altas. Como son sectores con medios necesarios muchas veces no se limitan a sus países de origen. Además sus estadías suelen ser prolongadas y diariamente realizan muchos gastos. Suelen utilizar diversos servicios como tours que incluyan guías o traductores en caso de no conocer el idioma. Este tipo de viajes suele estar organizados por agencias de turismos. Los medios de trasportes que utilizan los miembros de este grupo suelen ser veloces.
• Jóvenes. El cuarto grupo está compuesto por jóvenes, en su gran mayoría estudiantes. Es para estos turistas que muchas veces son diseñados otros lugares para la estadía tales como, hostels, albergues, etc. Incluso muchos jóvenes optan por utilizar los campings. Además en ciertos países disfrutan de privilegios en cuanto al precio de los medios de trasporte o en la comida. Estos viajes suelen ser muy económicos y muchos optan por la espontaneidad. Es decir que no tienen un destino fijo sino que cambian rápidamente su lugar de estadía. Es por ello que no son utilizadas ni agencias ni guías turísticas.

Una oficina de turismo, oficina de información turística o centro de información turística es la organización encargada de proveer información a los turistas potenciales y turistas que visitan un determinado lugar con el fin de facilitar su decisión de viajar, facilitar su estadía y disminuir el riesgo de experiencias negativas durante su viaje, influyendo positivamente en la imagen del destino turístico. La oficina de turismo suele ser de carácter público y sin fines de lucro, dependiente de organismos públicos con el fin de mantener la neutralidad y calidad de la información, sin sesgos comerciales.

La información otorgada incluye datos de contacto de prestadores de servicios turísticos (oferta turística: alojamientos, agencias de viajes, guías, restaurantes, transportes y otros como hospitales, cabinas de Internet y teléfonos, vacunas), atractivos, lugares, eventos y actividades de interés, horarios de atención, tarifas, rutas, sugerencias de seguridad y otros datos relevantes para el turista.

Las oficinas de turismo suelen proporcionar materiales informativos gratuitos como mapas, planos y folletos, postales, afiches, recuerdos, vídeos, listados de empresas registradas y otros materiales de interés.

La oficina de turismo suele ubicarse en puntos de concentración de visitantes como aeropuertos, terrapuertos, puertos marítimos y fluviales, Plaza de Armas (plaza mayor o plaza principal de la ciudad), cámaras de comercio o local gubernamental.

La primera oficina nacional de turismo fundada en el mundo se estableció en 1910, en Francia.

Oficinas de turismo en el mundo[editar]

América[editar]

Chile[editar]

En Chile las oficinas de información turística están principalmente gestionadas por organismos públicos. Existen 23 oficinas de información permanente a cargo del Servicio Nacional de Turismo distribuidas en las principales ciudades del país^[1]​ y 12 oficinas de carácter temporal que funcionan durante la alta temporada entre los meses de diciembre a febrero. Adicionalmente, algunos municipios poseen sus propias oficias de información turística, las que suman 36 oficinas de carácter permanente y 77 oficinas de información turística de temporada. ^[2]​

Colombia[editar]

En Colombia hay oficinas en Bogotá y Cartagena de Indias. El gobierno colombiano ha implementado estas oficinas a mediados del 2011.

Ecuador[editar]

En Ecuador las empresas y oficinas turísticas se encuentran aprobadas por el ministerio de turismo. Este ente público se encarga de administrar los permisos para empresas turísticas y distribuir la información relevante turística de los principales centros de actividad de turismo del país. Su principal oficina se encuentra en la ciudad de Quito.^[3]​

Estados Unidos[editar]

En los Estados Unidos de América, cada uno de los Estados tiene su propia oficina de turismo.

Nicaragua[editar]

Es uno de los países que está creciendo cada año en la visita de turistas; esto por las buenas condiciones de seguridad que ofrece; en la mayoría de puestos fronterizos está ubicado un CIT. Estos son administrados por el instituto de Turismo.

Perú[editar]

La Oficina Nacional Alemana de Turismo (DZT en sus siglas alemanas) es una organización de marketing nacional encomendada por el gobierno de Alemania que promociona dicho país como destino turístico en todas sus facetas.

Francia[editar]

La oficina de turismo en Francia es una organización local amparada en el Código de Turismo. Su creación ya no está sujeta a la aprobación ministerial. Basta una simple decisión del Ayuntamiento de una ciudad o de un órgano de deliberación o de una agrupación de municipios.

La oficina nacional de turismo, encargada de promover Francia como destino turístico era Maison de la France desde 1987 hasta el 1 de mayo de 2009 cuando cambió por Atout France.

Gran Bretaña[editar]

Posee una red nacional de centros de información turística, operador por la Autoridad Británica de Turismo (British Tourist Authority-BTA), representado por el website de promoción turística VisitBritain. Otras oficinas de información turística son operadas por las autoridades locales o a través de organizaciones privadas como sitios locales en asociación con la BTA. VisitBritain promueve la visita a Inglaterra, Escocia, Irlanda del Norte y Gales.

• En Inglaterra, el Consejo Inglés de Turismo (English Tourism Council) es un área subsidiaria de la British Tourist Authority y promueve el turismo doméstico bajo el lema Disfruta Inglaterra (Enjoy England).
• En Gales, la Asamblea Nacional de Gales (National Assembly for Wales) apoya las oficinas de información turística a través de Visit Wales.
• En Escocia, el gobierno escocés apoya VisitScotland, la organización oficial de turismo de este país, que también opera los Centros de Información Turística a lo largo del país.

En España existe una red nacional de centros de información turística bajo el apoyo de Turespaña, ubicados en las capitales de cada provincia. Las localidades de menor entidad tienen también oficinas de información turística, que informan a nivel comarcal.

Kazakhstan has significant potential for the development of almost all types of tourism: from ecological to business. This is facilitated by a rich history that has left many archaeological and historical monuments on the territory of the country. This is ensured by the unique geographical position, thanks to which in Kazakhstan you can find untouched corners of nature in a wide variety of landscapes. This is also achieved thanks to the development of tourism infrastructure, constant work to simplify the visa regime and many other factors.

The following types of tourism are currently developing in Kazakhstan.

Cultural and educational tourism

In terms of the number of monuments of archeology, history and architecture, Kazakhstan is a real “open-air museum”. Tourists can visit the ancient cities along the Great Silk Road, see the Bronze Age petroglyphs of Tamgaly or the famous Mangistau necropolises.

It will be most convenient to get acquainted with the modern life of Kazakhstan in the cities of Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Aktau, the tourist infrastructure offers services for every taste and budget.

Ecotourism

The number and variety of territories, the nature of which has been preserved in almost its original form, makes Kazakhstan incredibly attractive for fans of ecotourism. There are 12 national natural parks and 10 reserves on the territory of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan, due to its size and geographical location, provides an opportunity to visit such natural areas that tourists usually have to “look for” in a number of individual states.

These are the steppes and lakes of Central Kazakhstan, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. These are the foothills and mountains of the east and southeast, which, in terms of the diversity of landscapes, flora and fauna, can easily be compared with the region of the Alps. This is the coast of the Caspian Sea – the largest closed reservoir in the world. These are the deserts of the south-west of Kazakhstan, capable of impressing the most sophisticated lovers of photo tourism, these are the forests around Lake Borovoe in the north of the country, and much more.

Travel companies of Kazakhstan have developed about a thousand different routes for fans of ecotourism, often including, in addition to visiting natural sites, also acquaintance with the ancient life of Kazakh nomads.

Sports tourism

Kazakhstan provides excellent conditions for sports tourism in such areas as ski tourism, mountaineering, water tourism, equestrian tourism, cycling tourism and much more.

The nature of Kazakhstan provides unique routes and conditions for practicing a variety of sports, including extreme ones, and the country’s authorities, in turn, are making efforts to provide the appropriate infrastructure. For example, the slopes of the Shymbulak ski resort are considered among the best in the world.

Health tourism

Kazakhstan is a great place for health tourism. A feature here is again the active use of healing natural resources: hot springs, therapeutic mud, healing climate. In Kazakhstan, koumiss therapy, the use of mineral waters, and pantotherapy are practiced. At the same time, sanatoriums equipped with modern equipment are located directly next to the “natural bases” of such treatment.

For those who would like not only to improve their health, but simply to relax and gather strength, many rest houses have been built in Kazakhstan. They are located in such beautiful and ecologically clean places as the coast of Lake Alakol, the resort area of ​​Borovoe and Bayanaul, the coast of the Caspian Sea, the foothills of the Zailiysky and Dzungarian Alatau, etc.

Religious tourism

Religious tourism in Kazakhstan concerns, for the most part, visits to Muslim religious sites. Here, followers of Islam can visit mosques, mausoleums, tombs and tombs of famous religious figures. These are, for example, the mausoleums of Khoja Ahmet Yassaui and Arystan-baba, the underground mosques of Shakpak-Ata and Becket-Ata and many others.

Modern religious buildings in Kazakhstan will not leave indifferent pilgrims either. The pearl here is the mosque “Khazret Sultan”, located on the main square of Astana “Cossack Eli”.
