The Hop On Hop Off Bus has three routes to choose from: Blue Route – Red Route – Green Route

The Blue and Red Lines run the whole year and are approximately two hours long.
The Green Line is available from April to November and is about forty minutes long.
Each route allows you to hop on and off the Bus Turistíc bus at as many stops as you like and stay at that stop for as long as you like, just hopping back on the next bus when it comes along.
You can even change routes at one of the stops where the routes overlap, so you can see which sights you want to see, in a personalized route. There are 44 stops in total, all of which can be seen with the purchase of just one ticket.
The Blue Route
The Blue Route has a total of twelve stops, which overview some of Barcelona’s most important cultural sites, form the Sagrada Familia to the Futbol Club Barcelona stadium.
While you can choose to remain on the bus and just get a passing view of each of these locations, we definitely recommend stepping off and exploring each stop, as many of these locations allow visitors a unique look at Barcelona culture and architecture.

The Red Route
The Red Route has a total of twenty-one stops and is the most intensive of our routes, allowing visitors to see as much of Barcelona as possible.
Many of the stops on this route are interactive, meaning it’s best to plan a little extra time into your tour in case you want to stick around an get a better sense of one of the sights or activities you’ll be encountering on this route.

I’m more of a cynic, but the first time I rode this bus, I was pleasantly surprised.
I have always considered the idea of a tour bus tour more suitable for those who are not very interested in the history of the city. However, I, a permanent resident of Barcelona, got exactly the opposite impression from the tour. During the tour, I was able to get a better idea of my city’s layout and what it has to offer than I have ever experienced before.
For this review, I specifically took a ride on the Barcelona City Tour sightseeing bus, which is hard to miss due to its bright red color scheme, but there are other similar buses in the city.
Tourist buses can be used in two different and completely different ways. You may want to use the Barcelona City Tour bus as a useful means of getting around the city. You can sit in and out anywhere you wish. The bus will take you to all the most interesting tourist places so that you do not miss anything important. Alternatively, you can choose to complete the tour in one go, getting a general idea of what the city has to offer and marking specific points of interest to return to.

Barcelona Bus Tour makes both options possible and convenient. There are also minor drawbacks – the location of bus stops is not always obvious, explanations are sometimes difficult to hear, and the interval of movement is inconsistent. However, overall, I enjoyed the city tour on this service. This tour provides an easy way to see the city from above, allowing you to get a better view of everything, and also allows you to drive along a busy route through Barcelona, and there is no need to plan anything in advance!

The interval of movement may vary (see below). Stops do not have timetables. Therefore, you just need to come to the bus stop and wait for the bus.

For those who are in the city for the first time, the sightseeing bus provides an easy way to visit all the main sights of the city. Families with children
As already mentioned, children’s tickets are on sale. Just like wheelchair users, people with prams will not be able to go up to the second floor due to the narrow spiral staircase. However, downstairs there is a special area for wheelchairs and prams.
Elderly people
For the elderly, this way of seeing Barcelona can be helpful. You can see all the main sights of the city, sitting in a warm and comfortable bus. The stairs to the second floor are narrow and steep, but you can always stay downstairs. This may be more convenient than the Barcelona metro system, where changing lines often involves long passages and/or steps.
Tourists with reduced mobility.
There is a lift at the rear door of the bus, and the bus has a special area for wheelchairs. However, the second floor of the bus is not intended for wheelchair users. As in ordinary buses, there is a narrow spiral staircase going upstairs.
Explanations during the tour
When boarding the bus, you will receive disposable headphones. I’m talking about in-ear headphones. Those who prefer other types of headphones should bring their own headphones. Connector – 3.5 mm.
Each seat has a special device where headphones are inserted. A device with a small screen that displays the number of the channel being played is located in the back of the seat. The channel can be changed by clicking on the “up” and “down” arrow buttons, thus changing the language of the comments. Nearby there are two more buttons that control the volume. A small plaque on the back of the seat contains a list of channels and their respective languages. Audio guide recorded in the following languages:
English, Spanish, Dutch, French, Italian, Russian, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Hindi, Chinese and Catalan.
Those who do not need explanations during the trip may not take headphones – comments are not broadcast over the speakerphone.
Explanations are read out in a female voice. The information is sporadic and interspersed with classical music. On one of the buses, several times the explanations did not match the place we were in. Usually this happened when the bus got stuck in a traffic jam and did not have time to get to the place under discussion. Usually, it was fixed in five minutes. Comments are interrupted at every stop. The information is detailed, with many facts – dates and names. Fact lovers and history buffs will surely enjoy this, but I wouldn’t mind an interesting story or joke. However, with all this, the girl reading the comments has a very pleasant voice.
Comments are not very suitable for children. A lot of facts and dates are given there, it is unlikely that this will keep children’s attention.
In general, even at full volume, the sound crackles and it is difficult to hear explanations. This happened on two buses. People with hearing loss may have difficulty.

When you board the bus, you will be given a printed map for the journey.
This map is not detailed. It is useful for determining the route of the bus and the presence of various attractions in the vicinity of stops. The map is large and paper, so on a windy day on the second floor of the bus, it will be problematic to open it.

The host also provides a booklet and headphones and answers your questions. The receptionists are very friendly and speak several languages. They definitely speak Spanish and English. It is a pity that they do not comment on the tour, making their personal contribution.
Finding bus stops is not easy.

The stop time is always different. During my trip, the bus mostly stopped for just a few seconds. However, at other stops, the wait was between 5 and 20 minutes. This was not a problem except for a stop where we were informed that we would be waiting 5 minutes which turned into 20 minutes.
There is only one bell on the second floor to inform the driver about the stop. This can be problematic, especially at stops where the bus barely stops. You need to be on the lookout so that the bus does not leave before you have time to get off.
