Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Post-Launch Support Begins with Grand Prix
By
Tomas Franzese
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled’s first Grand Prix Season adds Tawna, the Trophy Girls, and more.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was released by Beenox and Activision on June 21, 2019. The game was met with critical praise, and the developers are keen on sticking to the game with post-launch support. On July 3, the first round of post-launch support will arrive, adding new characters, the first Grand Prix Season, and more. You can check out a trailer highlighting some of the updates below.
The game’s first Grand Prix Season runs from July 3 to July 28. During this time, there will be Grand Prix Challenges for players to complete in order to gain XP and unlock new rewards. This first Grand Prix Season does bring new karts, skins, and customization items to the game, but most notably it allows players to unlock new characters, including Tawna. She was Crash’s girlfriend in the first Crash Bandicoot game, and her addition to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled marks the first time she’s ever been playable in a racing game featuring Crash. The Nitro Squad, better known as the Trophy Girls in the original CTR for PS1, are also playable now.
Another major draw of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled’s first Grand Prix Season is the new Twilight Tour map. It is inspired by the Middle East and dynamically shift from day to night while players are racing on it. All of these additions are pretty hefty for being less than two weeks out from the game’s launch, but Beenox and Activision don’t plan on stopping here. The next season will introduce characters like Baby T. and Baby Crash, while the one after that will actually bring Spyro the Dragon, who saw his own remaster last year, into the mix. DualShockers will keep you updated as more details about those seasons come out.
Below, you can see some screenshots featuring the new characters and map. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is currently available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If this free post-launch support is drawing you in, you can pick up the game right now on Amazon.

Nitro-Fueled’s Nitro Tour Grand Prix
This week will mark the beginning of Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled‘s first Nitro Tour Grand Prix season, and we’ve got everything you need to know about it right here.
Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled has been out for well over a week now and if you are anything like us, you still haven’t gotten over how great it is. That being said, some of you might have been so excited about its release that you raced through the game’s adventure mode, literally. If battling against AIs and racing online is already starting to wear thin, don’t despair.
That’s because this week marks the start of Nitro-Fueled‘s first Nitro Tour Grand Prix season. For those unfamiliar with what PlayStation and Beenox have planned, its Nitro Tour Grand Prix season will work in a similar way to Fortnite and Apex Legends. Players will complete challenges in order to build up their Nitro Gauge. The more you fill up your gauge, the more things you unlock. The best part about all of this is that you don’t need to purchase a battle pass for access, it’s absolutely free.

When Does It Start?
Season one begins this Wednesday (July 3, 2019) and some of the rewards players will be able to earn have been revealed via PlayStation’s blog. The biggest rewards of all come in the form of brand new characters. Season one’s unlockable characters will be headed up by Tawna Bandicoot and a group of racers called the Nitro Squad. Long time players of CTR will recognize the group as the original game’s Trophy Girls. They have deservedly been given a 21st-century facelift and name change.

While unlocking Tawna and the rest of the Nitro Squad will require Nitro Points, a new track coming to the game will not. The track is called Twilight Tour and is an ode to one of the original Crash games, Crash Bandicoot: Warped. Season one will focus on this track, which players will be able to use both online and locally. Each season will introduce a new track that will subsequently be that season’s focal point.

Season 2 & 3
While there is extensive information on what to expect from the first season, since it begins this week, info on seasons two and three is sparse. We’re not even sure when they’re slated to begin. What we do know about season two is its name – Back N. Time. The track it will be focused around is called Prehistoric Playground, and its unlockable characters will be baby versions of Crash and Coco. Plus, we’ll also be able to unlock Baby T, another throwback to Crash Bandicoot: Warped.

Season three might well be a way off yet, but it is the one we are the most excited about. That’s because it’s theme will be Spyro. That’s right, the purple dragon is (eventually) coming to the Crash Team Racing universe. We’re also assuming that he will be bringing a brand new track and a few other characters from his own franchise along with him.

Unlockable Items
The key thing to remember once July 3 rolls around is that from that point on, you will only have a finite amount of time to unlock all the goodies that come with season one. Fortnite aficionados will know that once a season has been and gone, your chance to unlock the items that came along with it will have passed. We don’t know for sure, but we’re assuming that if season one ends and you haven’t unlocked Tawna Bandicoot, you never will.

Last but not least, the launch of the Nitro Tour Grand Prix will bring about global leaderboards. Your chance to see how you match up with the rest of the players around the world. We hope you have been relentlessly practicing and honing your Nitro-Fueled skills for the past week and a half because now the real work is truly about to begin.

Syzran Grand Prix Cup | FVS of Russia
Parallel slalom
Photo report
May 28-29 at the Troyekurovka airfield, Syzran, Samara region, as part of the celebration of a remarkable date for all Russian helicopter pilots – the 70th anniversary of the Syzran Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots, the Grand Prix Cup in helicopter sports was held.
In the Grand Prix Cup, the championship in the most spectacular helicopter sport exercise, Slalom, was played. Flights were carried out in parallel by 2 helicopters, from 1/4 finals to two victories of one of the crews.
The strongest athletes of Russia and the world from Syzran, Moscow, Moscow region, Samara, Saratov, Vladimir, Kaliningrad took part in the competition. Absolute World and World Air Games champions Viktor Korotaev and Nikolai Burov, Absolute world champions Lyudmila Kosenkova and Elena Prokofieva, Absolute Russian champions and World Championship winners Alexei Mayorov and Sergey Schwartz, multiple winner of Russian Championships Sergey Tupikov in the crew fought for the right to own the Cup. with the Absolute World Champion Vladimir Panarin (all – CSK VVS, Samara), multiple champions and prize-winners of the world championships Viktor Degtyar and Petr Vasilyev, champions of Russia 2009Vyacheslav Chernov and Aleksey Pintelin (SVVAUL, Syzran), Absolute Champions of Russia and multiple champions and prize-winners of the World Championships Galina Shpigovskaya and Lyubov Gubar (MOATSK, Serpukhov), Absolute Champions of the CIS and the German Open Championship 2009 Maxim Sotnikov and Oleg Puodzhiukas, CIS champion Alexei Afanasiev in the crew with multiple world champion Nikolai Rodionov, winner of many all-Russian competitions Artem Kurpitko with multiple world championship winner Vasily Golovkin (all from the 1st Aerosoyuz Helicopter Club, Moscow).
Pilots flew two types of helicopters: Russian Mi-2 and foreign Robinson R-44. The panel of judges was headed by an international category judge Valery Bolvachev, Syzran.
World Champion in freestyle Garry Georkov (CAC named after V.P. Chkalov, Moscow) performed a demonstration program on a Mi-2 helicopter at the aviation festival dedicated to the 70th anniversary of SVVAUL.
The organizers of the competitions were: Administration of the city district of Syzran, Federation of Helicopter Sports of Russia, Syzran Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots, Air Force of the Russian Federation. General Partner: JSC Russian Helicopters
The 28th of May was entirely dedicated to the celebration of the anniversary of SVVAUL, so sporting events were limited to pre-flight instructions and briefings.
The morning of May 29 met the athletes and judges with gloomy clouds, light rain and wind (up to 20 m/s). The wind bothered everyone, but especially the team of the 1st Aerosoyuz Helicopter Club on light Robinson R-44 helicopters. The refereeing team prepared a surprise for all the participants of the competition, the exercise “Slalom” was changed. Now the crew received an empty bucket at the start, and had to fill it from a barrel standing not far from the start, after takeoff. The sight is amazing, especially for those who know how difficult it is to drown an empty bucket in a well and draw water, and here it’s still at speed at the moment of hovering, in a narrow opening of the barrel.
Qualification started after the draw, one flight each.
The crews of V. Chernov, A. Pintelin, V. Degtyar, P. Vasiliev from SVVAUL, Syzran, G. Shpigovskaya and L. Gubar, MOATSK, Moscow region, L. Kosenkova and E. Prokofiev made their way to 1/4 , S. Tupikov and V. Panarin, A. Mayorov and S. Schwartz, V. Korotaev and N. Burov all Air Force CSC, Samara, M. Sotnikov and O. Puodzhyukas 1st Aerosoyuz Helicopter Club, Moscow .
From the quarter-finals the crews fought up to two victories to determine the winner. It turned out that the athletes of the CSK VVS from Samara and the pilots from SVVAUL were the best prepared for the competition, they could not lose face in the days of the anniversary of their native school.
