Current season ticket holders can obtain a season pass for the games at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys

A press conference today saw FC Barcelona’s vice president of the institutional area, Elena Fort, outline the model for capacity and access to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. It will apply from next season for the Barça first team games played at the stadium while the work on Espai Barça is under way at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Moving games to the stadium on Montjuïc means establishing a new, completely different model for capacity and operations to the model currently in place for the Spotify Camp Nou. Given that only 49,472 seats will be available at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, and as such, not everyone will be able to attend at once, members with a season ticket at the Spotify Camp Nou will see their season ticket holder status on hold until the definitive return to the Stadium. However, all current season ticket holders will be granted preferential status should they wish to buy a season pass for one zone at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Prices per zone

The new scenario means there will no longer be a third tier, and that the available areas will simply will be split into 6 zones, including a Corner Zone that doesn’t exist in the Spotify Camp Nou. The price for this new zone is between the prices for the goal or lateral seating areas.

The prices for a season pass for each zone are as follows: North Goal (€723), South Goal (€723), North Corner (€905), South Corner (€905), Lateral (€1,002), and Main Stand (€1,738).

The absence of a third tier also means General prices are no longer available, but there are very low prices via a social pass offer where visibility ranges from 80% to 100%.

Season pass

This new set up for FC Barcelona games next season means that current season tickets at the Spotify Camp Nou do not automatically renew, and therefore, members who wish to continue attending games must request a season pass for a specific zone at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Applications can be made from the first week in May and throughout the month via the Club website. Attendance will involve registering for each game, with no fixed seats available, nor will seats bear any relation to the season ticket location at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Registration for each game and no Seient Lliure service

As applied for the games when capacity was limited during the pandemic, the Seient Lliure service will be suspended while the FC Barcelona first team play at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, and season ticket holder members will have to register in advance for each game they wish to attend.

For games with more applications than seats available in each zone, a draw will be made to allocate the requested seats, and members who don’t receive a ticket will have the right to receive a proportional amount due to the service not being fulfilled.

Loyalty rewarded

Members with season tickets at the Spotify Camp Nou for the 2022/23 season who attended over 85% of games during said season will receive 24/48 hours preferential access when selecting the zone for their season pass prior to other members.

Once five games have been played in the stadium on Montjuïc, the system will automatically allocate the best seats within the pass zone to members that attend more of the games played at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Barca seal $1.6B deal for Camp Nou renovation led by Turkish firm

FC Barcelona Monday announced that they have successfully closed a financing deal worth 1.45 billion euros ($1.6 billion) to renovate their beloved yet antiquated Camp Nou stadium and its environs.

The club revealed that they were able to renegotiate the original terms to secure this agreement.

Barcelona added that they signed the agreement with 20 investors, including Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan.

The Spanish club are set to pay back investors in progressive tranches – after five, seven, nine, 20, and 24 years – with a flexible structure, including a grace period.

This means Barca will finish repaying the debt six years earlier than previously agreed, after renegotiating what was initially a 35-year deal approved in a referendum of club members in 2021.

“The club will start to repay the operation once work has been completed on the stadium, using income generated by the Spotify Camp Nou, which is forecast to be around 247 million euros,” Barcelona said in a statement on their official website.

The club added that they would hold a news conference to give more details on the financing deal in the coming days.

The announcement comes 24 days after the previous deadline to reach a deal, March 31, elapsed. The club said at the time that negotiations were still ongoing.

The preliminary debt structure has since been revised, the Kroll Bond Rating Agency (KBRA) said in reports published on its website.

KBRA said the revised structure included additional refinancing and interest rate risk. As a result, it downgraded the financing plan’s rating from BBB+ to BBB, making it less attractive to investors.

Later, KBRA said it had converted its preliminary rating to unpublished from published at the club’s request.

Camp Nou is the largest football stadium in Europe and the fourth-largest in the world by capacity, with 99,354 seats.

But Barcelona have said it no longer offers a full match-day experience for fans.

The club estimates that the revamped stadium will allow them to generate more than 200 million euros of additional revenue annually through sponsorship and naming rights, ticketing, catering, VIP boxes, hospitality, meetings and events.

Turkish construction company Limak has been tasked with the renovation, with works set to begin in June.

Club president Joan Laporta, who presided over one of Barca’s most successful periods from 2003 to 2010, was re-elected two years ago after the previous board resigned due to the club’s worsening finances and other issues.

Laporta inherited a club deep in a financial crisis exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since taking over, he has tried to improve Barca’s financial situation, turning the club’s assets into cash and bringing in new sponsors.

In March 2022, the club signed a shirt and stadium sponsorship deal with the audio streaming platform Spotify in an agreement worth 280 million euros.

Barcelona have also agreed to sell a 25% stake in their La Liga TV rights for the next 25 years to U.S. private equity group Sixth Street for 607.5 million euros and approved the sale of a minority share of their audio-visual division to Socios.com and Orpheus Media for 200 million.
