Depending on the season, the frequency of the Barcelona bus tour service calling at the stops is between 6 and 20 minutes. You won’t have to walk far to see each sight as many of the stops are right outside the sight of interest.

The Barcelona Bus Turistic Routes
Barcelona Bus tour has two different city routes interconnected at some of the stops.
Northern Route
The Northern route starts at Plaça de Catalunya and travels along the Passeig de Gràcia.
The bus stops at some of the most important modernist buildings created by Gaudí; La Pedrera and Casa Batlló. It continues to the top part of the city, stopping at places like Park Güell and Tibidabo. It comes back into town stopping at some of the royal and aristocratic palaces. This route includes a trip to Barcelona’s Football Club stadium and the Modern Art Museum of Barcelona (MACBA), two places worth visiting when you come to Barcelona.
This tour takes 2 hours if you don’t get off the bus.
Southern Route
This bus route also starts at Plaça de Catalunya and continues along Passeig de Gràcia. There are connections with the Northern Route at Casa Batlló and La Pedrera. The Bus Turistic heads to Plaça España, from where you will have access to the CaixaForum and the National Art Museum of Catalunya (MNAC). From the MNAC you will have panoramic views of Barcelona.
The Metro: Bus will then take you up to Montjuïc, stopping at the Olympic stadium. After this, you can visit the Montjuïc’s Castle from where you will have an amazing view of both the coastline and Barcelona city.
Then you will go down to the seaside. Barcelona has an excellent marina, and the seaside is full of places to eat or have a drink. Remember that at night this is also an important clubbing area.
This tour takes 2 hours if you don’t get off the bus.
Fórum Route
The bus leaves from Port Olympic, where you can connect with the South Route Bus, and then it follows the coastline passing by the main beaches of Barcelona. The main site to stop at is the Fórum. Here you will enjoy some of the newest architecture in Barcelona. You cannot miss it when visiting Barcelona since its buildings, squares and newly built port offer an impressive sight for its aesthetics and size. Timetable
Both the Northern and Southern routes start everyday from Plaça de Catalunya. The service runs all year. Officially the frequency of the bus for all routes is between 5 to 20 minutes, but remember that sometimes you might have to wait longer.

Hop on – Hop off buses are available in all tourist cities, and in Barcelona there are several Barcelona Bus Turistic routes at once. There are 2 permanent routes and 3 seasonal ones:
- Blue – from Plaça Catalunya with stops at the famous Gaudí architecture – to Park Güell and Tibidabo (route duration 2 hours).
- Red – from Plaça Catalunya to Plaza de España, Ciutadella Park, to Montjuïc mountain with a descent to the coast (2 hours route).
- Green – from Port Olympic along the beaches of Barcelona to Fórum (40 min route, runs from April 3rd to November 1st).
- Barcelona Night Tour – from Plaça Catalunya on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 21:30 (duration 2 hours 30 minutes, runs only in summer).
- Barcelona Christmas Tour – operates daily just before Christmas from November 26 to January 2, except December 25 and January 1. Gathers people 2 times a day from Plaça Catalunya at 18:00 and 20:00.
Blue and red route map
Routes of all colors intersect and offer 45 stops in total – you can change from one to another bus. Barcelona Bus Turistic operates daily from 9:00 to 19:00 in winter and until 20:00 in summer. If you wish, you can get off the bus, take a walk, and then get on the next one of the same color or another.
- Barcelona Bus Turistic travel regularly every 20-30 minutes.
- Christmas (December 25) and New Year (January 1) are non-working days.

The Blue Tram was launched for the first time in 1901 and is considered the oldest tram in Europe. At a speed of 13 km / h, he overcomes 1276 m of the path. Along the way, you can see picturesque landscapes and luxurious mansions built by the nobility in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
How to get to the Blue Tram:
- On the Barcelona Bus Turistic blue route, get off at the Tramvia Blau stop.
- To Avinguda Tibidabo stop on metro L-7 or buses V15, 22, 75, 131 and 196.
Blue Tram operates in autumn and winter on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10:00 to 18:00, and daily in summer up to 19:thirty. The interval of movement is 2-3 times per hour.
A similar journey is offered by bus number 196, which runs daily from 07:30 to 22:00.
One-way Blue Tram fare is €5.50. Tickets are sold by the driver. When buying a ticket, show him Barcelona Bus Turistic – the company promises a discount on travel on this tram.
There are 3 funiculars in Barcelona that take you to the highest and most picturesque points in Catalonia.
The Montjuïc funicular can accommodate up to 400 people and belongs to the TMB metro system. It leads to famous sights: the Olympic Stadium, parks, the Joan Miro Museum, the Montjuic fortress (1640) and the cable car. For 2 minutes of travel, the funicular passes 758 m.
- You can take the funicular from Parallel metro station.
- If you have an integrated pass, you don’t need a separate funicular ticket.
- Without travel card or tour card, a regular one-time ticket costs 2.40 €, sold at vending machines at stations.
- Working hours: in autumn and winter on weekdays from 7:30 to 20:00, on weekends and holidays from 9:00 to 20:00; in spring and summer — until 22:00.

The Montjuïc funicular takes you to the cable car that runs from the park (Parc de Montjuïc) to Montjuïc Castle (Castell de Montjuïc).
On the way back there is a stop Mirador (Mirador de l’Alcalde) – a very beautiful park area on the top of the mountain, where there is an amazing observation deck with panoramic views of the port, sea and city. There are 3 picturesque gardens at the stop – Miramar Costa i Llobera, Cinto Verdaguer and Joan Brossa. Even in hot weather it is cool and cozy here. The final stop on the return journey of the cable car is Montjuic Park.
We walked all this way, there is an unforgettable beauty around and a very easy descent.

Montjuic cable car routeMontjuic swimming pool with stunning views
This transport for up to 50 people is located in the Vallvidrera area on the Metro del Vallès metro line and is operated by FGC. It starts its journey from the Peu de Funicular station and heads towards the top of the Tibidabo hill.
- Runs every 6 minutes on weekdays. On weekends and holidays less often (details here).
- In 2 min. 50 sec. the funicular travels 729 m.
- Integrated into the public transit system and therefore subject to standard fares.
This funicular is considered the oldest in Barcelona, it was opened back in 1901.
