A Bicing bicycle – Wikipedia

Bicing is Barcelona’s version of a city bike sharing system, whose purpose is to reduce pollution with the city by offering an eco-friendly means of transport to the city residents. It can be compared to Vélo’v service in Lyon or Vélib’ in Paris.

This bike-sharing system was implemented in March 2007. The city council and Pedalem Barcelona manage and maintain the system. Its bikes are easily recognizable and are specially designed to discourage theft as well as vandalism.

To rent a bike with Bicing one has to be a subscribed member who actively pays his annual fees. Upon subscription, members get a card that unlocks the Bicing bikes located in different locations within the city. For the first 30 minutes, the users do not incur any extra charge, but after they pay 74 cents for every extra half hour.

Since Bicing is meant for moderate distances, members are discouraged from using the bikes for more than two hours in one journey. Failure to adhere to this may result in a penalty rate of €4.20 per hour or even having your membership canceled.

Bicing is considered to be a “public transport system” thus it is not available to tourists.

E-bike in Barcelona. Winter and summer – Barcelona (Barcelona)

Where to find? How much does it cost to rent an e-bike in Barcelona?

Today, more and more large cities come to the conclusion that soon ecotourism will become the main alternative for tourists.

Examples of this are many cities, in particular Amsterdam, where the bicycle has become the main means of transportation for tourists, and this is the main indicator of its demand for city guests.

In the autumn of 2014, the capital of Catalonia reached a new level in the ecotourism project. The fact is that Barcelona has joined the cities – followers of electric bicycles, more precisely, to participate in the eBike Smart Tour campaign.

All e-bike models are now distributed among four- and five-star hotels in the city. This project was launched at the beginning of September

A ride on an e-bike will be an ideal way to have a good time for tourists visiting Barcelona to take a break from work. Look. How many advantages does such a tourist have at once:

  • You won’t get tired because you don’t have to pedal
  • You will be spared from annoying traffic jams and noisy roads
  • You will see everything in kind, not through the car window
  • You will not need to look for parking, you can stop in a crowded place and continue your journey around the city again
  • Upon arrival in the city, transport is generally required only once – to get from the airport to the hotel itself.

Yes, and now the electric bike is a panacea not only for tourists, but also for business. Renting such bicycles is a very profitable business, because there are more and more companies involved in this business.

Electric mobility aids come in a range of sizes (adults and children) and the kit includes a charger, an anti-theft device and a helmet.

It should be noted that the rental price also includes the maintenance service (in the event of an accident or breakdown).
By the way, you shouldn’t worry about seasonality: the service is available all 365 days a year. In addition, you will definitely not get lost: navigation will be with you))) All bikes are equipped with smartphones with special applications, with which guests can choose their own tourist routes.

Where to find?

In fact, there are many e-bike rental services in Barcelona. But if you are interested in the largest network, then you can find it at this address

The municipality warns tourists that the charge of the bike is enough for a 2-hour trip, and the speed can be reached no more than 25 km / h.

How much does it cost to rent an e-bike in Barcelona?

In order to use electric bikes in Catalonia, you need to pay an annual fee of 14 euros per year, and this card gives you the opportunity to rent them. The payment is 45 cents for every 30 minutes of bike rental.

For example, 10 hours = only 4.50 euros
And cheap. And convenient.

Barcelona has a network of 45 electric bike rentals. Attached card:
