For the convenience of traveling to Barcelona water parks, you should check their location on the map. The largest entertainment complexes are located within the capital or in small provincial towns.

Visit at least one of the seven water parks near Barcelona. These huge entertainment complexes for adults and children are located under the open Spanish sky, so they are open only in the summer.

In the water park you can ride water attractions, dine in local cafes and restaurants or have a picnic, watch dolphin and fur seal shows.

In Catalonia, water parks are located along the coast, most have a free transfer from neighboring tourist cities. Therefore, I recommend that you first of all go to one of the parks closest to your hotel.

I visit Catalonia every year, and my children and I visited almost all the water parks that can be reached from Barcelona. Here is my rating of water parks east and west of Barcelona that you can get to on your own.

One of the six Aquapolis parks is located in La Pineda, near Salou. From Barcelona it can be reached in one hour. I recommend it if you are staying in Tarragona, Salou or Reus.

For me, this is the best option on the warm coast of the Costa Dorada: it is comfortable to relax here even in September, when other water parks are closed. And if you buy a ticket on the website 10 days in advance, you can save a lot.

The water park is large — 110,000 sq.m., but there are not many water activities here: 6 extreme rides, 8 slides for adults and children, 4 zones for kids. There are 5 VIP areas with sun loungers on the territory, a lot of space to relax on your towels.

The peculiarity of the water park is that dolphins and fur seals live here. Twice a day you can visit the show with the participation of marine animals and at any time watch them in the exhibition pool.

      • The water park is open from May 18 to September 30, from 11:30 to 17:00-19:00.
      • Input:
adults over 1.4 m – from 18.9 € online and 29.95 € at the box office. Children 1-1.4 m tall and adults over 65 years old – from 18.9 € online and 23.95 € at the box office, children under 1 m tall – free of charge.
      • Additional costs: sunbed rental €5, locker rental €12 (half will be returned when keys are returned).

The water park is located near the tourist town of Lloret de Mar, 75 km north of Barcelona. This is the most popular water park on the Costa Brava. Suitable for adults who love extreme slides and for families with children.

In September it can be cool here. In autumn, choose from water parks further south, on the warmer coast of the Costa Dorada.

There are 21 water attractions in the park. Among them are 5 extreme ones: a kamikaze, a free fall capsule, a roller coaster, a water funnel and a descent through a closed pipe in inflatable boats. There are 13 attractions for a relaxing family holiday. And for the little ones – 3 water zones.

The peculiarity of the park is that it is located on a hilly area among a pine forest, so you can always find shade.

You can bring food to the territory and have a picnic in a special area with tables. There are several cafes and restaurants on the territory.

      Map Water World

Part of the famous Port Aventura World complex 110 km south of Barcelona, close to Salou and Tarragona. There are a lot of visitors here, and you can stand in line for an attraction for more than half an hour, so I do not recommend considering this option in July and August.

17 rides fit in a small area of 50 thousand square meters. The most famous and extreme is the descent from the height of a 12-storey building at a speed of 6 m/s, at an angle of 55°. There are several water areas for children: an indoor pool, an interactive water playground, a children’s pool with a pirate galleon and a lagoon with children’s water activities.

Children’s area at Caribe Aquatic Park

Aquatic park for families with children 110 km from Barcelona. I do not recommend traveling from the capital of Catalunya, there are water parks closer. And for those who rest on the Costa Brava, not far from Girona, this is a good option.

There are 23 attractions in the park: 8 for young children, 2 extreme ones – kamikaze and a black hole, and the rest are suitable for older children and adults.

There are four cafes and a picnic area – you can bring your own food.

A small water park – dolphinarium 70 km from Barcelona, also not far from Lloret de Mar. I recommend it for families with children who would be interested in watching sea animals and birds. Adult companies will not be interested here – there are only 10 attractions in the water park, there are no extreme ones.

All slides are suitable for children over 1.15 m tall. For the little ones, there are three children’s areas with small slides, suspension bridges and fountains.

A special feature of the park is a show featuring dolphins, fur seals and exotic birds. Each performance takes place twice a day and is included in the ticket price.

You can bring your own food into the territory – for a picnic there is a separate area with wooden tables and benches. There are three cafes where you can order a set lunch from 14.5 €.

During the season, when the queues for attractions are long, you can buy a Fast Pass for 10 € and stand in a separate line that moves faster.

      • Opening hours in 2020: from May 18 to September 6 from 10:00 – 10:30 to 17:00 – 18:30.

When buying a combined ticket (train and entrance ticket to Marineland) at Renfe ticket offices, the train ride is free. If you buy tickets separately, a one-way ticket will cost 5.5 €.

Illa Fantasia is a family water park, the closest to Barcelona – only 25 km. One of the oldest water parks in Spain, it has existed for over 25 years, so the water attractions are outdated. After other water parks, it may not be interesting and boring here, but there are always a lot of locals – it’s convenient to get here. Other things to do in Barcelona with kids

The territory of the park is 70 thousand square meters. There are 22 attractions: indoor and outdoor slides of varying difficulty for adults and children, and 3 large pools: a lake with calm water, a pool with artificial waves and a pool with water cascades. The territory of the pools is rented for evening and night events, concerts and festivals are held here.

There is a dedicated picnic area with 900 tables and 100 barbecue areas. You can dine with what you brought with you or bought at a local supermarket. For those who prefer to dine in cafes and restaurants, there are several establishments with pizza, burgers, fast food and ice cream.

Lockers for storing things in the park are paid: 5 – 7 € depending on the size, plus a deposit of 5 €, which will be returned upon return of the key to the locker. There is free parking in front of the entrance.

      • Opening hours: June – September from 10:00 to 18:00 – 19:00.

The Aquabrava water park was opened in 1987 near the border with France and covers an area of 10 hectares. It is worth going here from Figueres and other towns in the northeast of Spain. Most of the attractions are old, after visiting new and modern water parks it will not be interesting. I think that the price of the entrance ticket does not correspond to the level.

Another “minus” of the water park: you can’t bring your own food and drinks, bags are checked at the entrance. There is no picnic area. You will have to dine in one of the expensive local catering establishments: two restaurants and three cafes.

There are 19 classic attractions of varying difficulty: 5 extreme ones, such as the black hole, kamikaze and cobra; 12 exciting – parallel descent, a trip along artificial rivers and slides in inflatable boats. For family holidays – pools with and without waves, a water area for kids.

      • Opening hours in 2020: from June 3 to September 13, from 10:00 to 19:00.
      • Admission: adults over 1.2 m €33, children under 1.2 m and adults over 65 €20.
