Barcelona luggage storage: 7 BEST Barcelona Luggage Storage Options in 2023

7 BEST Barcelona Luggage Storage Options in 2023

Where can I leave my luggage in Barcelona? Lots of places, is the answer! Major transport nodes, such as El Prat Airport (terminals 1 & 2), Sants Train Station and Estacion del Nord bus station, all have storage lockers. We look at the costs and practicalities of each, as well as a number of specialist storage networks like LuggageHero, Bounce, Stasher and LUGGit who all make storing your bags easier than ever!

Quick Menu – Storage Networks | Airport Lockers | Train Station | Bus Station

We tell you about so many great things to do here in Barcelona, from rambling around, visiting the top tourist sites, and checking out new restaurants. But none of this is much fun if you’re dragging suitcases behind you or you feel weighed down by a heavy pack strapped to your back. The solution, of course, is to store your luggage somewhere. But where?

It really depends on where you are, where you’re going and how much time you have. If you’re taking a quick jaunt from the airport, it’s easy enough to keep your bag there. Similarly, if you’re arriving to Barcelona’s main train station, Estacio de Sants, or its main bus station, Estacion du Nord, you will find lockers where you can keep your belongings.

If you’re staying in a hotel, and wondering what you can do with your baggage after you’ve checked out, then we’d advise asking at reception – chances are they have a safe room where you can leave your stuff, until it’s time to get your taxi to the airport.

Perhaps the most commonly occurring problem for travellers, is needing a place to store your suitcases after checking out of an apartment or Airbnb accommodation…

Perhaps the most commonly occurring problem for travellers, is needing a place to store your suitcase after checking out of an apartment or Airbnb accommodation. Unlike hotels, there’s rarely a place to leave your bags and nine times out of ten you’re expected to haul your cases out with you, when you lock up and deposit the keys (usually around noon!).

For these modern travellers, a global storage network is usually a better solution, allowing you to conveniently drop off your stuff at a nearby store, pharmacy or hotel, until it’s time to wave a teary farewell to ‘The Great Enchantress’ and board your flight back home.

To help you “lighten your load” (pun intended!), we’ve gathered more detailed information about all of the above options below:

Luggage Storage Networks

The modern traveller needn’t be confined to leaving their baggage at the train station these days. Savvy folk like LuggageHero, Vertoe and Bounce have done deals with scores of spaces in the city, which can safely store your equipment, cheaper and more conveniently than at one of Barcelona’s big transport nodes. Just go to their websites and you’ll be able to browse the nearest drop off point.

1. LuggageHero

With LuggageHero you can choose from more than 80 locations, according to where you are in the city. LuggageHero (which operates in several other European cities), uses a network of local shops located near popular transportation hubs and tourist destinations. These storage points are spread throughout the entire city. For example, you can find LuggageHero sites near Barcelona Sants Station, Las Ramblas and La Sagrada Familia (check the link!) for starters.

In terms of security, each shop is verified by a local LuggageHero representative, each bag receives a safety seal, and all luggage and contents are insured for €2500. Prices start at €0.95 per hour, with a daily maximum of €7.90 per bag. The only thing to bear in mind is that the hours of service vary, depending on your chosen storage point, so just check the shop in question is going to be open at the hours you need to drop off and collect your belongings. When you head to their reservation platform, you’ll see the locations nearest you (or else nearest the place you want to go), including the operating hours of each drop-off point. Pretty convenient!

2. Bounce

This American company already has 8,000 storage locations in over 1,000 tourist cities around the globe, making them the largest storage network in the world. Their success has been featured in the likes of Forbes, CBS and TechCrunch.

With 144 places to drop off your luggage in Barcelona (at time of press!), from Plaça del Catalunya to the mighty Camp Nou, they’ve got you covered.

Their flat fee of €5 a bag, for up to 24 hours, can’t be beaten, nor can their “BounceShield™ Protection” which insures your baggage for up to $10,000, which is around twice as much protection as most of the other networks. The total time it takes to book your storage should be no more than 2 minutes, and you can also download their app for even greater convenience. Start by heading to their website.

5% DISCOUNT CODE: Save yourself 5% on your storage fee by using the discount code BARCELONALIFE.

3. Stasher

Stasher connects you with 1000’s of shops in over 500 towns and cities around the globe who can store your bags, fully insured! They cover most major cities on every continent, including – importantly! – Barcelona. The service costs from €4.95 per bag, per day, or €6.60 including all booking fees.

Barcelona has over 50 local hosts to choose from on their platform, and growing, many of which are open 24/7, making collection and pick up convenient, whatever the hour. You can find local storage options using their Barcelona page, and book instantly. Refunds/cancellations are free if you have a change of plans or any issues with your booking.

10% DISCOUNT CODE: As a special offer to our readers, Stasher offer a 10% discount when you book using the code: BARCALIFE.

4. LUGGit

LUGGit works slightly differently from other storage network companies: rather than going to a shop with your luggage, a LUGGit driver (called a ‘Keeper’) comes to you at your beck and call! Like ordering a Uber, except this ‘Keeper’ will collect your bags, suitcases, surfboard, or whatever else from wherever you are in Barcelona.

When its time to fly, you simply log on to LUGGit app or the website, where you can arrange when and where you want your bags delivered back to you (for example the airport, train station, or your Airbnb apartment).

This can saves you a tonne of time spent lugging your bags around Barcelona, leaving you footloose and fancy free instead. Importantly, it also means you don’t have to go back to where you left your bags, giving you way more freedom to explore the city.

You can store your bags for as long as you like (hours or days), and oversized items like surfboards and bicycles can also be stored.

Start your search on their Barcelona page.

Major Transport Nodes

While these services are less important with the innovation that global storage networks bring, sometimes it’s easiest to leave your stuff at the transport node from which you’ll be travelling from. This way you’ll be unburdened right up until you’re ready to take your plane, train or bus.

5. Barcelona El Prat Airport

Can you leave luggage at Barcelona airport? Yes, if you end up with several hours to kill between flights and you want to go into Barcelona for some sightseeing, leaving your luggage at the airport is a convenient option. Both terminals of El Prat have left luggage services run by Excess Baggage Co.

Terminal 1

In Terminal 1, or T1, they are located in the intermodal lobby, on the lowest level of the Plaza, Floor 0. The service is open 24 hours.

Terminal 2

In Terminal 2, or T2, they are in the check-in lobby.  The service is open from 6.00 to 22.00.

Normal luggage (suitcases or similar) cost €6 per item of luggage, with a weight limit of 30kg per bag (after that expect to pay more). After the first 2 hours of storage, the cost rises to  €10 per item for a 24-hour period. Discounts are available for multiple pieces of luggage and longer storage times. If you lose your reclaim ticket, there will be a penalty charge of €10…. so don’t! Each location includes bag wrapping and international shipping.

If you want to double check these details, or read about special luggage requirements, head to the airport’s official website or the Excess Baggage Company website.

6.

Barcelona Sants Train Station

Barcelona Sants is the city’s main railway station and a busy transportation hub. If you’re arriving by train and only have a few hours in the city, or if you’re staying in the neighbourhood, also called Sants, the train station could be a convenient place to leave your bags. But if you’re looking for a central location, this is not the best choice. Follow the signs for luggage storage (“consigna” in Spanish) and you will find small (80cm x 60cm x 40cm) and large lockers (90cm x 60cm x 50cm) for your luggage. The lockers are open daily from 5.30 to 23.00. Daily prices range from around €4 to €5.30 for each bag. (Photo credit: Wikipedia).

7. Estacion del Nord Bus Station

Barcelona’s central bus station has lockers by the bus stops in front of the platforms and next to the tourist information kiosk. This region of the city is quite central, and a little more convenient than the train station, but you’ll still be walking quite a bit if you’re hitting the main tourist sites. The lockers are open daily from 5.30 to 23.00. The cost is €3.50 for a small locker (61.5cm x 28cm x 76.5cm) and €5 for a large one (61.5cm x 55.7cm x 91.5cm), and you pay with coins – so bring change. You pay for 24 hours, and if you go over that, you must pay for another day, so watch the clock! Once you open the locker, you have to pay again to close it, so make sure you grab everything you need before you lock up! (Photo credit: Wikipedia).

Where can I store my luggage in Barcelona?

Barcelona, Spain counts as one of Europe’s, and indeed, the world’s most beautiful and interesting cities. It’s a place where you’ll find a public park that is closer in spirit to Disneyland than to the staid grass-and-trees-only kind of parks you’ll find in other places. It’s also a place where you have the opportunity to see world-class art up close. Would you expect any less from a city that has its very own Picasso Museum? Of course not.

Barcelona is also a place of contrasts, where old Roman villages have been turned into modern pedestrian zones; where you can witness the ongoing construction of a 200-plus-year-old cathedral that’s already a UNESCO world heritage site, despite its unfinished status; and where you’ll find plenty of interesting things to see, either on foot or by bike.

As always, Bounce and the businesses it partners within Barcelona stand ready to help you with luggage storage in the city. You just need to log on to the Bounce app and find a Bounce partner near you.

Luggage Storage Near Barcelona Sants Railway Station

Barcelona’s main railroad station gets its name from Sants, the neighborhood where it’s located. The inspiration for its style was inspired by the architectural style of modern airports. However, this modern marvel isn’t just a railway station. It’s a complete package. Case in point? The Hotel Barcelo Sants takes up most of the space on the railway station’s upper floors, allowing travelers to find lodging right after they disembark from the trains.

However, this railway station doesn’t just allow people to make stops in Barcelona. It provides a jumping-off point for travelers who want to experience Spain by train. The city of Madrid, which lies just under three hours away from this station by train, is just one of the many destinations you can reach by catching a train at the Sants Railway Station.

When your travels take you to the Sants Railway Station or beyond, consider storing your luggage with one of our Bounce partners near the train station. These luggage drop-off points are located in easy-to-find businesses like hotels, coffee shops or train stations for your convenience.

Luggage Storage Near La Sagrada Familia

This UNESCO World Heritage Site has had quite a history already and because it’s not yet finished, it will continue creating a new and interesting history on into the future. Construction originally began on this basilica in the late 1800s under the supervision of Francisco de Paula del Villar, an architect who was a member of Reial Acadèmia Catalana de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi.

After Villar’s death, the care for and planning of the basilica went to Antoni Gaudí. He worked on the project until his death in 1926. At that time, only about one quarter of this massive project was done. Since that time, the basilica has survived the Spanish Civil War, fire and the ravages of time. Despite all of these challenges, the building does now have a projected completion date: 2026.

This cathedral, along with Paris’s Notre Dame and New Orleans’s Saint Louis Cathedral, has been named one of the top cathedrals in the world for tourists to visit. If you yourself plan to make a visit to this edifice of time and tenacity, then you’ll want to check out your options for luggage storage in Barcelona. Bounce partners in the area can stash your bags for the day so that you can tour this basilica and its grounds without being bogged down by the weight of your bags.

Luggage Storage Near Park Guell

Park Guell is like Disneyland for the eyes and was also the brainchild of Antoni Gaudí. Yes, the Antoni Gaudí who played an instrumental part in the construction of La Sagrada Familia. Yet, these two places couldn’t be more different.

Park Guell has been called a playground for the mind, a place where you’ll encounter visual jokes at nearly every turn. Its brilliant colors, simulated palm-tree trunks, twisted iron gazebo and forest of fluted columns make this public park a must-see for travelers. In all, it’s 17 hectares and a place where the imagination can play. It offers weary travelers and city-dwellers alike an excellent and fun respite when life in the city gets to be a bit too much.

At Park Guell, you’ll have the opportunity to see how architecture, nature and imagination merge, to climb countless steps and to closely examine the evidence of Gaudí’s creative mind at work. Before you go, be sure to log onto your Bounce app to check out your options for bag storage in Barcelona. When you’re exploring this place, you’ll want to do so with hands as free as Gaudí’s imagination was when he created it.

Luggage Storage Near El Prat (BCN) Airport

As Spain’s second-busiest airport (and Europe’s seventh-busiest), El Prat (BCN) Airport serves more than 50 million passengers each year. It’s located in Barcelona’s center and gets its name from Josep Tarradellas, the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

El Prat first opened just before 1920. The Spanish Navy’s Zepplin Fleet was based there. These days, much of the air traffic coming into the Barcelona airport comes from domestic and European origins and from airplanes and not Zeppelins. A number of airlines fly into this airport, including Air China, Air Europa, Air Moldova, Air France, and American Airlines.

If your travels bring you into El Prat (BCN) Airport, you’ll want to check out what options you have for luggage storage in Barcelona. Log onto the Bounce app to find our partners in and near the airport.

Luggage Storage Near La Rambla

La Rambla may just be Barcelona’s answer to Paris’s Champs-Élysées. This street runs just over one kilometer, stretching from Portville to Plaça de Catalunya. In this area of the city, you’ll find a Gothic quarter, a pedestrian zone and other attractions. Automobile traffic is limited in the area. Cars are allowed to drive on either side of the pedestrian zone of Ramblas Boulevard.

The pedestrian zone at La Rambla is populated by beautiful trees and interesting people. This is arguably Barcelona’s main thruway. The Metro stops in three places along the length of this famous street. Many tourists to the area believe that if you go anywhere first, then you must go to La Rambla.

Many people also consider it an excellent jumping-off point for exploring Barcelona, due to the number of hostels, apartments, and hotels nearby. Given that most of Bounce’s partners are businesses, like hotels, coffee shops, and other easy-to-find establishments, it’s logical to look for options for bags storage in Barcelona here, where many such businesses reside.

Luggage Storage Near Gothic Quarter

Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter was once a Roman village. Fortunately for traveling history buffs, much of the old architecture still remains, allowing tourists to look at both Gothic and modern architectural styles side by side.

However, this place is more than just an outdoor museum of sorts for Gothic architectural history. Each day, thousands of people wander the streets of the Gothic Quarter in search of bars and restaurants, coffee shops and places to buy trinkets. It’s also a cool place just to hang out when you need a little time to catch your breath.

The Gothic Quarter of Barcelona is a place to stash your bags. Luggage storage options in Barcelona, including in this area, are plentiful. To find out more information, just log on to our app and look up the location where you want to drop off your bags. It’s likely that you’ll find a Bounce partner nearby.

Luggage Storage Near Mercado de la Boqueria

Food counts as an important part of our daily lives. Yes, it sustains us but in a broader sense, it also explains who we are. That is why, for example, it is so difficult for translators to translate recipes from one language to another. Food is a language all its own, an entryway into a new culture if you will. No place in Barcelona better exemplifies this than the Mercado de la Boqueria.

The brilliant colors and fragrant scents of fresh fruits and vegetables tantalize the senses in this 2500-square meter labyrinth of all things delicious. Visitors here can find a plethora of fresh fruits, cold cuts, sweet treats, and seasonal vegetables at one of the 300 stands that call this place home. The marketplace counts as one of Barcelona’s most iconic landmarks. It’s a sensory experience that must be smelled and tasted; trying to explain the market and the food here to someone who has not visited is an experience that truly becomes lost in translation.

What we can say, however, is that before you come, you’ll want to look for options for bag storage in Barcelona. You’ll need free hands in order to examine the best fruits and vegetables Mercado de la Boqueria has to offer. Juggling your luggage at the same time would just lessen the experience.

Barcelona is just a train ride away from Madrid, Malaga, and Valencia. If you plan on enjoying any of these cities for a few hours or few days, make sure to make use of all of the convenient Bounce luggage storage facilities in Spain.
