Excellent Example of Gaudi Design
Apr 2023 • Couples
We booked tickets a couple days in advance. We had read a lot about this so we just walked around on our own. We did not do the audio tour, nor did we do the night tour. There was a long line so do plan in advance. It was easy to get around as the staff guides you through if you do not do the audio tour. An elevator takes you to the apartment first, then you go to the attic, and finally to the roof. There are stairs back down but being “older” we were allowed to take the elevator back down to the ground level to exit. The apartment is interesting to see how someone lived their back when the building was new. People actually live in the other apartments. The attic has models and prototypes of Gaudi’s projects. The rooftop is amazing, crowded, and offers excellent views of Barcelona. Keep in mind that walking around may not be easy for all as there are steps all along the roofline. Nothing is totally flat. A definite must if you are a Gaudi fan.

Residential Gaudi
Our 15 year old son suggested this tour and I was so glad he did. It was fascinating to see a residential home designed by Gaudi and the audio guide was excellent in explaining the details. The attic area explored Gaudi’s design and build process and the rooftop was spectacular.

Not my favourite Gaudi property
This was very busy even though it was only April.
Another fine example of Gaudi’s work but we were a little disappointed with the interior as most of the tour is given over to the small apartment and then a gallery explaining Gaudi’s work rather than the real thing.
The rooftop was particularly crowded and alas full of visitors trying to get that unique Instagram moment! One young man even shouted at me for getting in the way of his moment!
Worth a visit if you enjoy Gaudi’s work but be prepared for the multitudes!

Thank you for dedicating your time to comment on La Pedrera! Regarding the fact that the visit is very crowded, it is true that we have many visitors, being a Gaudí building and having the Plensa exhibition, there is a large audience who wishes to visit us, despite this, we work to make the visit smooth. The main hours of the day are usually the ones that host the most people, so we recommend the first hours of the day or the last.
Sincerely

Another seminal Gaudi. The apartment is amazing
May 2022 • Couples
Most people come to see the chimneys and the roof and don’t get me wrong they are great. The chimneys make me laugh as it looks like someone abandoned a company medieval soldiers up there. Of course the whole building is an art nouveau fantasy. The part I absolutely loved the best was the apartment still laid out as it would have been at the time of construction with all the furniture fixtures and fittings. It was a real window into life back then and how people lived in this amazing apartment. I thought it was so interesting and unlike Casa Batlló it felt real and not just a work of art but a real living functioning place that just happened to be a work of art. I totally loved it even more than those areas that people usually talk about. Give it a go and I think you will like it.

Worth Experiencing! Gaudi’s work is amazing!!
We really enjoyed the head phones and the audio when entering each room. The hard part was not being able to get good pictures because it was overcrowded.

Great design work!
The design is unbelievable. Do not skip the roof or Attic. The views from the roof were incredible. The “skip the line” doesn’t actually mean you don’t have to wait in a long line, but wait patiently and the staff does a pretty good job at asking who is booked for which times and groups people. We were booked for 1:30, got there at 1:15. We finally entered about 1:45. If you don’t buy tickets in advance, you cannot walk up and purchase tickets.

Unusual architecture and tour
What a cool tour this was. We did the virtual tour first and learned about the Milas. Then we toured the building. The architecture was fascinating and my favorite place was the attic. The rooftop had amazing views and this was well worth the price of admission. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting Barcelona fir the first time.

Apr 2023
This is the most amazing place to visit in Barcelona. I recommend doing it at the start of a visit so kids learn about Gaudì before they see other important works by Gaudì like Park Guell Amd Sagrada Familia. The tour was fantastic ! Our teens loved it.

Very impressive but overcrowded
Really enjoyed our visit to La Padera. The audio narrative was really interesting and enhanced the tour. It is very grand and imposing. Rooms felt very much like a museum but the ‘attic’ was very special – really beautiful design. The roof top was great but to be honest just too many people up there at one which significantly reduced the feel of what would have been a really brilliant experience.
If I was to choose between Casa Batllo and La Pedera, I would go for Casa Batllo – very magical

La Pedrera – Milà House (Casa Milà) in Barcelona – photo and description, location, reviews After finishing work on it, the architect threw himself into the construction of the Sagrada Familia, abandoning other projects.
It is interesting that initially the townspeople did not appreciate it, jokingly calling the house “the quarry” (La Pedrera). Today, Casa Mila is a universally recognized masterpiece, which is included in the TOP of the main attractions of Barcelona and annually receives about a million visitors a year.
History of the house
Casa Mila was built between 1906 and 1910 by the textile magnate and politician Pere Mila y Camps. In 1969, the Art Nouveau house was recognized as a national monument of Spain, and in 1984 it became the first building of the 20th century to be protected by UNESCO. Now the building houses a cafe, an apartment-museum and an exhibition hall where temporary exhibitions are organized. One of the main highlights of the building is the rooftop terrace, where you can see many different sculptures.
Casa Mila Architecture
The stone structure looks extraordinary thanks to its smooth curves and decorative elements. Together, all this creates the impression that the house is in motion. The design of the building was innovative – it used architectural techniques unique for that time. Gaudi mentioned that he was inspired by the sea and rocks for the asymmetric supports and facade of the house. The architect created movable interior partitions, thanks to which the premises could be rebuilt, as well as a unique ventilation system and an underground garage. Elevators in the house appeared a little later. Ornate steel gratings were used to decorate the balconies. Inside, there are three patios created for additional lighting. The walls of the house are decorated with colorful paintings on mythological themes.

District/quarter: Eixample
Walking through the magnificent Plaza of Catalonia, you find yourself in the newest area called Eixample, which literally translates as “increase, spread”, and this is immediately becomes clear thanks to the wider streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this spacious area, Passeig de Gràcia, is famous for its numerous shops of the best designers from all over the world. The glitz and opulence of this quarter leave little room for competitors, and the best examples of this are the comfortable and luxurious five-star hotels that coexist with divine creations in modern style from recognized geniuses of world architecture, such as Gaudí and Montaner.

Cool gothic
May 2018 • For two
It is a pity that you can just go into the mansion and look at the beautiful stairs and the first floor. They don’t let us through. But, living for almost a month on Paseo Gracia, we passed by this neo-Gothic house with a name close to the Russian heart many times. It was built by Manuel Comas i Thos in 1901-05, when the Eixample was densely built up with mansions in the Art Nouveau style. A real fabulous medieval North European Gothic with typical rose-windows, an elegant inlaid staircase and powerful columns with flowers in the hall.
Only the stained-glass window on the ceiling is purely modern and very beautiful.

A house that looks like a medieval castle
May 2015 • For two
The architect made this house look like a medieval castle. The building is trapezoidal in plan with narrow corner towers, decorated with an arcade in the upper part and really looks like medieval palaces-castles. Currently, the Higher School of Tourism is located there.

The entrance is impressive – and you can walk up to the Great Chinese Staircase with a beautiful stained glass ceiling. But once you get to the top – it’s a school and you’ll be asked to leave. So take a quick quick view of the stairs.
